The likes of Vickery and Achurch are the sort of players SL clubs are going to be able to attract these days.
Fringe first teamers, at the age where they want a shot at playing more regularly.
Similar route to that taken by Michael Dobson and Scott Dureau, who haven't turned out to be too bad for their respective clubs.

If what we are hearing is true about BJB.
Then I doubt we had any choice in signing Vickery.
The coaching staff clearly do not see Jamal as our next wingman just yet.
A 23 year old Aussie who can cover pretty much all the back line seems an ideal solution to me.
As regards to Singleton.
Surely if JP and Kylie retire at the end of the season he should be back with us.
Time will tell.

He has some pace but rarely takes a man on the outside hence the comment.
I also said I would not swap him for any other SL winger as yes his strength is his strength so to speak.

I dont see any issue with this signing of vickery at all, a young, athletic, english winger who can cover various positions in the backline and won't be on a bucket load of money. Nothing to lose imo

Ryan Hall is without doubt the modern day complete winger,just as John Atkinson was his era
Ryan has far more to his game these days than just his strength though IMO, I think he has great attacking sense with his positioning,How many times does he leave his markers AWOL whilst he waltzes into score unopposed, like in this years GF when he skinned Joel Monaghan?
He is almost unstoppable when he is close to the try line and can finish in the very tightest of areas as Billy Slater found that out to his cost
The only other winger that is comparable to Ryan and in either code worldwide too is Brett Morris IMO |

Atkinson was a good winger, but no Boston, Vollenhoven, Bevan, Offiah etc.
Green Vigo made him look like a selling plater, get hold of a copy of 100 great tries.
As for Ryan Hall, a very good winger, but I wouldn't swap him for Josh Charnley who is younger, faster and more evasive. |

A bit selective though.......
I agree 'that' try is a great one deserving to be included in the 'video tape' (though i've not watched it for a while)
But i don't think many people can remember Green for anything else.

Vigo scored three great tries that day, all on the video.
He should have been a great winger but sadly fell into bad company (some of those were in the Wigan team  ) who showed him the wrong way to be a pro player. It's sad really because the "Vigo" type of player in the correct environment would be box office today. |

John Atkinson was a great winger, not good. Very dismissive of what he achieved, not just for Leeds but for GB.
I'm pleased you wouldn't swap Hall for Charnley because neither would I. Charnely is a good young player but Hall is the complete winger. Perhaps when Charnley puts in the kind of display against the Aussies that Hall did the other year you could realistically compare. |

I read his post several times over, convinced it was a wind up! Leroy Rivett was faster and more evasive than Hall, not sure I'd rather have Rivett though!

Over all throughout both careers John Atkinson was far and away a better winger than Vigo.that particular game on Atky was at the backend of his career and he came straight off nightshift in the heavy mob,IMO he was also better than Offiah |

On the Charnley v Hall call and Charnley not being able to defend.
They played directly against each other four times last season Charnley scored five tries and Hall scored four, does that mean Hall can't defend either?
Hall actually statistically misses more tackles than Charnley.
These stats suggest the Charnley is the better defender.
