| Quote ="G1"Sadly I don't. Can I just clarify before we go any further, do you think that Buderus didn't miss 4 tacklesm or any tackles in last weekends game?'"
Re the four stated by Opta, I've no idea, do you?
Buderus (after Lauitiiti) certainly missed at least one on the elusive Lomax (who was surprisingly impressive opposite Burrow) as detailed on the other thread. That contribution was intended to be the start of the discussion. Can I have an update on any progress made?
Beyond that I'd have to (and carefully) review the fullish game again.
The missed tackle stat reported by Opta may be demonstrably true (I honestly couldn't say) but in Buderus' case any consequence wasn't that noticeable to me (tries conceded as a direct result, large territory conceded, momentum shifting moment - that type of thing.)
His overall performance IMO more than made up for any inconsequential missed tackle stat on the night with several previously highlighted quality involvements on both attack and defence. One of Leeds' better performers.

Certainly,
Since I last posted I consumed a bacon sandwich, packet of Hula Hoops and a full packet of ginger biscuits. Then I finished reading the Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. BTW, I can heartily recommend the Millennium trilogy of books. Superb intelligent thrillers.
Then I took a nap and started to watch the DVD of the Swedish film of the first of those three books, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I opted to watch with subtitles, rather than dubbing. Wise decision I think. Excellent stand alone film and would recommend it but not a patch on the novel, goes without saying. I dread to think what the soon to be released hollywood re-invention will be like.
Then the wife and daughter came home from gymnastics (the daughter partakes, not the wife, not her thing these days). Watched a bit of TV with the daughter, argued with the wife and refused her offer to cook me tea as a result. Big mistake. It's not easy to cook on one leg and less easy to carry the food from the kitchen to the living room. Apologised to the wife, watched a recording of last night's Tereme then watched the Sopranos. Now I've logged on here. Going to hit the sack soon as I might try and get to work tomorrow (can't drive, will have to be a taxi).
Not worried about Buderus's missed tackles up to this point and this point.
HTH.

Young player with exciting talents makes mistakes one week sets world alight the next shocker. Fans fail yo show payience with young player shocker.
Maybe Watkins career path should follow Chev Walker's with an introduction on the wing before he claims a centre position.

I also think that Watkins looks far more competent on the wing at present whereby he isnt directly targetted at defence wise, whilst stood 20 meters in field each set

A bit like the winger for Wigan on Friday - what was his name again? the one you rate so highly based on seeing him play first grade 4/5 times!!

His tackling is not good enough - he dropped off a few today - he doesn't seem to hit at all
Sublime backhanded pass though

| For yet another time (far to frequent for my liking) Watkins made another sublime try saving tackle.
He look really comfortable on the wing today and with our current winger drought might be a position we'll see him occupy for a few weeks.

I think it definitely helped playing outside Ablett - playing him and Hardaker together last week was a huge error IMO

I agree, though I hate him taking the ball up in our 20 metre zone with his loose style of carry.
His jumping to take the kicks for his tries was excellent & his pace is good too.
Leave him there for him to get more experience at this level.

I dissagree. He's a centre and he is playing wing because we have a lack of options at the moment.
Play him at centre whenever possible and let him learn there. It would be a tremendous waste of talent if this kid was pigeon holed into been a future winger now instead.

I agree in that i see him as a centre rather than winger. Would still like to see him at the left centre though

| In attack, playing on the wing is much easier mentally than playing in the centres. That seems to suit Watkins, no need to make snap decisions or put out miracle passes under pressure.

| Seems to suit Watkins at the moment Andy but, like I said, no issues with blooding a young centre on the wing. It's what we did with Chev for quite a while.
Having said that, I'd also have no issues with him learning his trade, and making his mistakes, in the centres and won't be ready to write him off, as many did on here, when he makes those mistakes.

I agree, gaining experience on the wing in first grade is one of the ways to progress these young outside backs. A pity the club don't always share that view.

They usually do with players they think have something better to contribute to the 1st team than the incumbents. Like Ryan Hall, Lee Smith, Kallum Watkins, Zak Hardaker, Ben Jones Bishop. Separating the wheat from the chaff if you will. EVery now and again some bushy chaff slips through but they soon discard it.
Obvious chaff might get picked up elsewhere and be good enough for those with lower standards, which is good for the chaff and good for the lower clubs, but we generally blood the wheat in the 1st team.

" Bushy chaff " ....? What else do you know of Kirke ? Betting it's more to do with your oats and he being your fantasy incubus.
I would question the 'soon'
The particular chaff I suspect you refer to is going to make you gag on your words ..... I'd best stop there I think.
