Really? in 07 and 08 we finished 1 point behind them after the regular rounds. 2007 it came down to a Rob Burrow kick against Wigan which would have had us finish top (the only goal he missed that year I believe). In 08 we were a long way infront of them at halfway, but lost ground mid season. They started poorly, we had a poor middle patch, end result, not a lot in it. Head to head - even stevens apart from the cup.
I'm not bagging Saints, but some of our own supporters have failed to grasp that there has been nothing between these two sides for quite some time. 2007 a surprise? I think not. I've heard interviews with Saints players where they could sense how fired up Leeds were for that game and the the Leeds guys themsleves believed it completely. After the 07 final we were talking to some Saints fans outside and they thought we'd had their card marked after the semi 10-8 defeat at KR.
As for the other 2 i personally thought we had as good a chance as they did but with the SKY muppets bleating you'd think we'd sneaked into OT by default.
