Just seen the news and wanted to wish for a speedy recovery.

I've had the misfortune of tearing my ACL and having to hang my boots up as a result. I hate to see any serious injuries, and especially don't like knee ones!

Thankfully the surgery and after care these days are excellent.

having flashbacks to webbs back injury a couple of years ago.

terrible news.smith at full back webb at 6.burrow is really going to after take on defences now, terrible season for injuries.

Gutted, but I think Webb to stand off and Smith to FB is the key.

That would be my preferred choice.

And yet, despite all the sh*t, we made wembley and are 80 mins from old trafford.

Bad news for Danny and the club. Just had a Wigan fan post the news on my facebook wall. After that she said Just deserts. Silly moo. Her husband said to me last night she was saying every Leeds tackle was a high shot etc....never gracious in defeat that one.

Just hope Wigan don't win the GF or I won't here the last of it.

It's not going to be easy for him to come back. A player like him needs that spurt of speed and the fitness to support everything. I think a forward has a better chance of recovery, I think Peacock's body may be grateful for the rest, but Danny needs to be sharp. I really hope he doesn't lose that. A tough start to next year already on the cards.

These knee reconstructions (if thats is whats required) do seem to take a long time to fully recover from. Diskin was a couple of seasons before he rediscovered the form he showed previous to the injury and Ashley Gibson took a similar period to get back to full fitness.
IIRC Tommy Martyn was a clever player but never very quick. McGuire has a great burst of speed and we can only hope last night was not the last time we get to see it.

would it not be possible/more useful to look to the under 20's?

Ablett, Sinfield, Webb, Diskin, Buderus and Burrow should be able to control that middle of the park for periods of the game, Maybe getting Ward on the field for 20/30 minutes at the start of the season progressing to a few starts if it goes well?

We have 5 months to get him ready, he probably is too young for week in week out SL rugby, but im sure its not beyond the realms of possibility to try and get him playing for a month or two

Agreed, i think thats what Bluey was aiming for this season with a few of the academy lads but injuries and constant reshuffling has led to very difficult situations to be throwing these lads into. Some have been able to step up, some have been found a little wanting and need a little more time to develop.

Smithy does seem to have that x-factor aura around him, an ability to come up with a play when none looks on or possible.
