I honestly dont see the problem with Ganson reffing.
He is the best ref that they have to choose from.
If he gets the GF i for one will have no complaints.

I don't want Ganson reffing Saints in such a big game, it will just stir up unneccessary controversy, even if he makes every call 100% spot on. He may appear to be favouring his home town team, or go the other way and favour Leeds in an (unconscious) effort to appear non-biased. Either way one side will complain about him bitterly when they lose, and I'd rather talk about the players.

I was actually referring to the Rhinos contingent as a whole, being apparently being treated differently to the stains. I'm 46 and don't feel the need to wave a flag tbh, but my boys wanted them at their first GF only to have the poles confiscated on the way in, waste of money that was eh?

If he saw the incident/heard that information from above , why did he give saints the penalty ? Surely the penalty should have gone to wigan and saints should have been a man down for running in .

I stick by what I said last week: I don't have a problem with Ganson reffing Saints games per se, but I do think it provides ammunition for conspiracy theorists and creates controversy which could easily be avoided by appointing a different ref. It would be tough on Mr Ganson, who probably deserves the game, but I can't help thinking it would be the smart move for the RFL.

He still dragged the bloke by the head/neck after the initial contact - illegal tackle, on report correct decision IMO

Ganson will find one way or another to influence the result and get some publicity out of the game. Remember Bluey referring to him as "That Man". He will make what will be an already tense atmosphere between the two teams boil over even more. If the RFL want to make the GF a fiasco then give it to Ganson.

Why is it that the RFL believe that referees with connections to a certain club are available to officiate their games. No other sport does it with very good reason.

What did he say to Saint Keiron a few minutes later when he hit Coley just as high. "Good shot Kee, he had that one coming." ?

I've no problem with it. If he's the best in the league then he deserves the game.

The best referee should get the final.

This season's best referee (IMO) hasn't been given any of the play off games though so it will have to be Ganson instead.

He should favour the team that isn't called St Helens so it's all good.... except we all know the referee shouldn't favour either side.

Ben Thaler should have it IMO.

Any other 1st grade ref other than St Steve should get the final as it would take away the "he supports Saints" element out of any blame for any wrong decision, of which there are bound to be a few. And that goes for both supporters as well. Oh and not Thierry either because he is just crap.
