You’ve got to back the club’s call sometimes; they see players every day, monitor them, test them. Clearly Garbutt is one of the best props in SL when fit, anyone can see that - but if the club thought he was shot then it was the right decision. The player is never going to like to hear that because they don’t want to believe it’s true, or for that prognosis to get out to market and effect their earning potential.

The mistake we did make was not adequately replacing him (could say the same thing for McDermott, Peacock and Leuluai too though).

Never had a problem with the call by KS re-Garbutt it was the sheer hypocrisy that followed re-Ablett Jjb & Crosby all RE-Signed by Sinfield.

Well, it’s fair to say there might have been some additional good will shown to JJB and Ablett. I don’t really have a problem with it and neither would have wanted or expected to be so blighted by injuries this year.
Crosby, I scratch my head over. I’m not sure he was ever that good a player to begin with but we have bent over massively for him. Hopefully he comes back next year and adds something.
Donaldson has worked out quite well though.
Back to Myler, if we are paying him that much more than anyone else is prepared to match now, just another example of mismanagement. He’s not been in poor form for us, he’s tried hard.
Hopefully he can find a better gig somewhere and both parties can move on.

I'm not sure we have bent over massively for Crosby, he signed after playing at the back end of 2018, how were the club to know he would have a bad injury and be out for the year? We don't know what sort of contract he is on and you never know he may turn out to be a good addition next year, he was a good player and he's still relatively young.

JJB and Ablett (especially JJB) I believe were given deals more for the roles they play within the club as much as on the field.

Crosby has had a really rough few years for lots of reasons. Whilst he might not be the best prop in the wold, he would be fine as part of a good 4 prop March day rotation.

Given what he’s been through it’s commendable the club have stood by him the way they have. I don’t get the impression the kid is a shirker.

Totally agree. Too much sentiment in our retention policy for 2019. Sinfield needed to be more ruthless. These players have served the club well but this is a professional sport not a charity. We have a better pair of halves now for 2020, so it's time for Myler to be shown the exit door.

For me it’s either Crosby or Singleton but not both.

Maybe he could reunite with Lolohea as a replacement for Hastings.

They've already signed Kev Brown for that.

Crosby arrived banged up & still got given a 3yr deal so like i said hypocrisy.

Leeds do and its this loyalty to players that has made them the great club they are. Yes they've had a couple of years in the doldrums but every one of us expects to see them back at the top. I Beleive it's going to take longer than some are hoping for. Anyone who thinks you can stay at the top ad infinitum are delusional. Sport and business is cyclical

That pairing really will be a test for Watson's coaching credentials. It'll be a shame to see Salford fall away next year and not build on a remarkable seasom, but with the players they have leaving it seems inevitable unfortunately.

When their time was deemed up they were moved on just as Ablett & Jjb should have been it was KS looking after his mates as good as they've been they were both done.

Was it Sinfield looking after his mates or did he just feel a bit of experience would help the group?

I personally would have got rid of both at end of 2018 but can understand why the club chose not to.

Sinfield will do what he thinks is right for Leeds.

Salford have done remarkably well to make the final but i can't think of any other seasons that team could have made it, they have one star in Hastings and the rest are workmanlike journey men in the main. they have seized the opportunity that was there this year as outside Saints the rest of the comp has been at best average. For as well as Salford played Wigan stunk the place out last night and the game was near done after half an hour.

Saying all that it's great we have another team in the final i just hope they don't get stage fright, they have to play to their best to even make it competitive imo.

Absolutely, the standard of the competition over all is at a real low, for all the interest the closeness of the top and bottom has created it really is at a sacrifice of any consistent quality.

Saints have been so dominant and most of the actual action has been predominately at the foot of the table,

I mean how many teams have been "in the mix" for relegation trouble at some point this year and to even have x4 teams set for the drop in the last round has been for some a great spectacle but in reality shows just how level the playing field has been this year with regards to true quality.

That being said.... Good luck to Salford, they have been a credit to the comp and at the very least, have brought a breath of fresh air to the finals series and its great to have a new team in the GF final mix and heres hoping they can spring a surprise.

I’d say Salford have been playing well. They made very few mistakes last night and ground Wigan down in impressive fashion.

Having said that I expect the GF to be a game too far for them, and if Saints start well we might see a different kind of game. I do wish Salford all the best but Saints really do have the quality.

Regardless of the poor overall quality of sides today compared to yesteryear, what RL still delivers is heart and entertainment. Salford (and Fev) have been huge value this year and good on them. It’s a magnificent sport, we just need more dough.

I’ve really enjoyed some of the Championship games I’ve seen this year, and the women’s and academy fixtures. Streaming services are making all levels of the game more accessible, it’s great.

So we can all probably agree that Super League isn’t as super as it should be, but Leeds will be better next year and there are plenty of positives for the game.

Still expecting Toronto to win the GF; Fev brave as but Toronto have then beat at the ruck most plays and they have to run out of gas sometime.

Championship rugby reminds me a lot of the game I grew up watching in the 1980’s. It’s often more entertaining than SL.

Indeed. If london had lived up to predictions and got 2 wins can you imagine how much worse it would have been post magic weekend?
