| Quote ="rhino phil"there are 7 super 8 games, so 14 points up for grabs and we are 7 points clear of Cas in 5th so we are all but guaranteed a semi final spot. These next games are about ensuring that the semi game is played at home hopefully against 4th but I'd back us home or away against any of the top 8 at the moment. Wire do seem to be a bit of a bogey team this season and I can see them sneaking into 4th eve with a 4 point deficit but we should be at hq. think it will be a leeds saints gf'"
Huddersfield play Warrington at home, that could be the one to decide who gets the final fourth spot. Top 3 should remain Leeds, Saints and Wigan. We play both at home, win both and we should be top 2. Wigan have the disadvantage in the race for a top 2 spot as they also go away to Saints as well as their visit to Headingley.

| does anyone know what skys criteria for picking the remaining games will be. Are they showing one super 8s match and one middle 8s or just whatever they fee like? I'm guessing catalans three home games will all be televised on a saturday afternooon. are they going to pick the games as the two comps develop or announce all 7 rounds this week? they could end up televising a dead rubber instead of a crucial battle for 4th

Well, Warrington blew them away on their home turf yesterday so they will have to regroup very quickly to stand a chance. Realistically it will be between Warrington and Hudds. for the 4th spot.

| I notice not many comments on yesterdays game. I can see quit a few who normally post obviously wasn't there, as they were posting on here.
But please, surely I am not the only one with a negative on one particular player yesterday? defensively that was like watching a child play rugby.

| I could not attend the game (various reasons) my main info is from today's guardian . Quite a good match report , Catalan claimed they were in the game for sixty minutes? How did jjb play, also briscoe. His three scores good finishing or individual efforts.
Mc Guire not used probably saving him for the saints match.

Nope you're not alone. Keinhorst defended very poorly yesterday, as did Burrow. The two of the side by side struggled badly.

Thank you. I dare not say the name, as I know it might have looked like I was picking at him, which I can honestly say I wasn't. But yesterday was really bad, and I too did make allowances for playing inside Burrow. It wasn't the technique as such, as missed tackles do happen, but the point of lightweight that came up again, getting brushed off too easily.

| Keinhorst has never been the strongest defender and really struggled against the big Catalan players yesterday, putting Burrow next to him was a big mistake, I also think Sinfields defence has been poor this year and he didn't even make an attempt for Catalans first? try yesterday.

| Was there a touch of one team subconsciously thinking about a semi-final five days hence and the other knowing it has a week off, in both teams approach to the physical aspects of the game?

I think there was complacency from Leeds, but the issue of poor defence came from individuals, not as a team, and from players who you would think would be fighting for a spot for that Semi. Take in contrast to Singleton, who IMO had a very good strong game and really put himself about a lot.

Keinhorst had a shocker in the first half particularly, yes. I did notice though (and was annoyed) that when Catalans had the ball Keinhorst and Burrow were lined up alongside each other and they seemed to target that area of our line a lot - logical and sensible from a Catalans perspective really.
I was annoyed because it was an obvious weak point in our 'brick wall' - could Watkins not have been swapped over or Burrow moved to the other side of the line? I think we were a tad lucky in the second half because Catalans weren't targeting the Keinhorst - Burrow area anywhere near as much when running the ball.

| Our fullback was slow in following the ball across behind our defensive line and was therefore too late to prevent a try once a tackle was missed

Yep Inu and Whithead were well on top v JK and Burrow although RB did put a belting tackle 1 on 1 v Whitehead in the 2nd half.
However even though JK struggled especially 1v1 it's not a secret how powerful runners Whitehead and Inu are and yet he was left exposed far too often imo.

Inu was a handful to the least. He was bumping tacklers off at will.
good shout for the Burrow tackle, he drove Whitehead into the ground. But worrying when an isolated tackle is the highlight of your halfbacks contribution!

Saints, Wigan, Warrington, Huddersfield, Cas, also have very good players. We play in Super League, not the Yorkshire Junior League.

| keinhorst has now played 10 games, this last one at was the weakest, but he is usually solid on the defensive front, Id rather put it down to an off game on top of 2 big runners who cause everyone trouble. Also Dureau was able to cause some good holes with well timed passes, that half a second on wrong footing is all a player needs to get through a gap. Burrow will always have one or two weaker showings in defence simply down to his stature, but he tackles above his weight on most occasions..... We are top of the league have great depth of squad and should be picking everyone up and giving them a boost into the CC semi final and Super 8s.
On the depth, it will be interesting also to see whi other clubs are looking at for potential interest, we have singleton, keinhorst, handley, robbie ward who have shown up well in the depth, but could still be missing out on a full fit squad depending how you look at it, less so singo next year you would think, but 1st team at another club is attractive, but so is club success.

I think we can consider Singleton 1st team at the Rhinos now - he played 23 super league games last year, and has played 22 (of 23) Super League games so far this season

| I'd of thought next season the four props would be Galloway, Singleton, Garbutt and Mullally.
That would allow Cuthbertson to play at LF.

Well done for picking up some straws....... I was referring to the other players, I presumed some intelligence in reading it and rather a discussion rather than some ragbag quoting some stats...... thanks for contributing..... Singo most likely will be 1st choice next year, but maybe other clubs would come and make him a bigger deal that was more in line with my question
