You say that after the event. The problem is those issues started because of the unrest caused by what he wanted to achieve, rather than his skill set. Had he had the support, and I am not saying it would have been the case, but it just might have been a little different.

| Quote ="Sal Paradise"I disagree - Furner came into a sloppy culture which he quite rightly tried to upgrade into a degree of professionalism. The egos of the players would not have responded well I'm sure but that is what was needed - a big kick up the backside and if the likes of JJB didn't like then they should have been told FIFO and coach backed.
I guarantee - and I go back to him again - Murray would never have accepted that and I'm sure he encountered exactly the same challenges when he came but they players both respected him and knew which side the management were on.
JJB has been a great servant to the club but this is elite sport where small margins make a big difference having the very best everywhere - which is what Leeds were and should be about - is critical. This is where the club has lost focus - it appears now to accept second best.
Ruthlessness is essential - elite anything is brutal and only those with a single mind to win - win.'"
So it was wrong to sack Furner then? I have no doubt he isnt to blame for our demise but he had to go to keep us up imo.

I know where you're coming from but it was never going to work. The squad needs a major overhaul but Furner lost the trust of the players early including the players we need to keep.

| Forgot to post on this. Simply we got it all wrong against FC. They were big powerful and dominated us. Lui was so greedy and Gale hardly got involved. Our pack looked like U16’s vs Open age. I called FC having a very good year anyway but I just hoped that the occasion helped us. Our wingers are nowhere near aswell. It was a hard watch and I travelled all the way from Plymouth aswell haha. It’s round 1 but if we go in with the same attitude the Giants will stuff us. They looked good against the Dragons. Gale needs to step up and in a bit. Move Lui out of the way.

Yes it was - if he had been supported the players would have towed the line and things would have improved. Whilst ever players see a chink in the coaches position they are going to drive a wedge straight in its a deflection technique. The players know its easier to sack one person than half a squad. Sinfield knew the squad was weak, he tried to offload half them - Furner was/is a better coach than Agar so he would have got sufficient wins to keep Leeds up. Ask Alex Ferguson who was boss and what happened to dissenting players - if you allow the players to rule the roost you will never have any continuity or progress - as we have seen.

| What are we basing Furner is a better coach than Agar on?
Furner has been sacked from both his first team head coaching jobs, not a great record that is it.

Look at the level Furner was coaching at - significantly different to Agar - neither had great records but to suggest Agar delivered something Furner couldn't doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

No and Furner didn't have the squad strengthening that Agar had i.e. Ava, Martin, Lui either so as I said it is very likely given all known facts that Furner could have delivered what Agar did.

| Who signed the players pre season 2018-19? Furner or Sinfield? Agar was a yes man under Kath Hetherington at Hull and that was a disaster ( didn’t help that Kath made the signings, not the head coach). As for Rob Lui,I thought he looked way overweight? 10 mins in and he was totally shattered,so perhaps Agar should be looking at that?

Shake things up? How many players have left in the last 18 months?
Anyway I see JJB is early candidate for hate figure of the year on here.

The club should have never put him in that position it can only be looked as jobs for the boys given his lack of experience unless coaching Stanningley counts

He’s been the assistant coach for one game, how you or anyone can judge him on that baffles me, look at other teams theres quite a few ex players that are assistant coaches
Lee Briers at Warrington
Paul Wellens at Saints
Lee Gilmore and Liam Finn at Trinity
Danny Orr at Cas
David Hodgson at Hull Kr
Thomas Bosc at Catalan
Luke Robinson at Huddersfield
I wonder wether they got more than one game into their assistant coaching careers before being written off?

A job he is nowhere qualified for under a Coach witha ptoven record of failure & countless sackings.
The squad still lacks quality & depth a good Coaching set could & would offset some of those issues but we dont have it.

Just out of interest whst are your ecpectstions on this Coaching set up & at what point/games would you question the set up?
Beaeing in mind as it stands
Agar -Failed everywhere he's been
Jjb- Not qualified nor any experience at any level as a FT Assist Coach.
Walker- No Coaching CV of note other than a couple of years Coaching Acadamy.
Webster -Numerous Assist jobs & Coached London but like the Head Coach no success at all.
Given the above How Long? Should anyone wait before questioning that?

Briers started as an academy coach and earned his stripes, Wellens started as PPM for the academy before moving up, Robinson started coaching the U19s, Gilmore is only part time etc.
This is supposed to be an elite club - yes having him working with the juniors but not as the assistant - he is the fall back to a very modest coach - do you really think that is appropriate?

No just like Brian McDermott resigned from Leeds
And Agar left Hull for Wakefield - even the most ardent Wakey fan would be hard pressed to suggest that was a promotion. His win % at both clubs was >50%
