Re HKR
Although Johnson played a promising cameo, he has played 15 minutes in 2 years and his only other game was another last 15 minutes. I’d be amazed if he started I don’t think he is ready, be quite surprised if he is on the bench. Plenty of promise but needs a proper pre-season.'"
He's played a number of full games for York recently, he shouldn't be too far off - although totally agree he needs a proper pre-season, along with everyone else if we're going to challenge next year.
The problem with Dwyer starting for me is that he is less effective running against fresh markers, and his poor distribution harms our ability to run wide of the middle with any fluency. When we're light down the middle that's even more of an issue.
I don't know what the answer is. Maybe Leeming starts and we use someone else in at 7 to partner Lui.
I do like Dwyer as I've said elsewhere, and cannot fault his grit. Maybe people see his running and tries and associate him only with that: not the three tries we haven't scored because he takes the wrong options/poor execution from DH. I want to see our first receivers with the ball delivered at their fingertips consistently, to give them half a chance of establishing momentum in the attack.

Agree Dwyer is much more effective off the bench. Think same applies to Johnson at moment. Maybe O’connor Starts at hooker or if we could get enough forwards, play leeming at hooker and Lui and smith in the halves. No easy answers with such a busted squad. Looks like a tough game
To win.

Good news. Wonder who will play hooker? Cas look very strong too with McShane and Watts back in the squad.

Doubt McShane is fully fit - thought they really missed him recently.
Wouldn't worry about Wire not wanting to win this one, should be a competitive game. We have another three days to see whether we're out of this season or not.
Really we need Warrington to do the job against Cas don't we? Not bothered at all whether we finish 5th or 6th, swings and roundabouts.

| I'd rather be playing Wigan than Warrington in the 1st round of the playoffs, not really looking at the 2nd round as i don't really expect us to get there either way. Bonus if we do.
Got to beat KR 1st anyway, unless Warrington do us a favor on Thursday

| I've not been impressed with Wigan most of this year, but I think if we drew Wire we get an extra day rest/prep?
Both matches should be good this week, lots to play for and there's not a huge difference between the sides.

| Konrad on the bench for emergency impact? Maybe a 15 min stint in the middle as a swansong?
Hope he gets a final run-out in front of the crowd, abs I hope the crowd are kind to him if so. Never given less than 100%.

| I'd go with
Myler
L.Briscoe
Newman
T.Briscoe
Handley
Lui
Leeming
Holroyd
Johnson
Prior
Gannon
Martin
Smith
Subs
Hurrell
Dwyer
Thompson
Donaldson
I think Agar will probably start Dwyer but I'd use Dwyer as imapact al ong with Hurrell who probably isn't fully fit but this could be his last game for us and he will provide a lift coming off the bench when we need it.

| For once we have to get our tactics right against the Rovers . Whoever plays in the second row has one main job- stop Jordan Abdul .
His kicking game is at least 80% of their attack . Stop him - we win .
Question is - can our coach get the plan carried out ??

| Adbull is a key man but slowing the ruck down is equally as vital. KR seem to like their 9s jumping out and everybody else following them. Parcell and Litten seem to run even more than our 9s. We must control the ruck Fri night. If not game could get too quick for us.
Our pack has to perform much better than last week and the previous week at Magic actually.

| Putting kickers under pressure and controlling the ruck will only come off greatly improved discipline and reducing unforced errors early on.

| Great end to the season with Cas needing to win tonight and then our game tomorrow and then the playoff series which will be excellent too. Super League gets criticised by many but theres been some highly entertaining games lately.

Will be great if the season can end with a bit of bang. Hopefully it will lure some floating spectators back into the grounds next year. Personally speaking I have really enjoyed some of the games since lockdown was lifted. Wigan away was great, Hull at Magic was as well, and Wire at home (despite the result) was a tremendous standard of Rugby when you consider the exhausting schedule.

Totally agree, plus the Saints Cats MW game, which for sporting drama and entertainment would take some beating!
Really excited for next year to see how we go with the new signings and younger players being more experienced
Getting into the playoffs and having a real dig would just be a bonus this year

| For me this end of season jamboree is our trampoline into 2022.
What I want to see is for us to finish positively, on our own terms and not on the back of more poor discipline/lack of concentration etc.
Although Saints and Cats are out in front, I think every team is beatable and if we do get Mik back alongside Tet and maybe one or two other, we start to look threatening again. Who knows.
Win on Friday, only 6 teams left. Jag an away win to Wire or Wigan and things get interesting quickly. Oledski is the missing link IMO. IF he's fit, he makes us a much better side. I don't think we have a chance without him, but we have a small chance with him.
Whatever happens I'm saying this year has been a progressive one for us as a club, I'm pretty happy.

Agree. It's a case of how fit these key players are as well though. Name on the team sheet means nothing if they're still on one leg.
Eye of the needle this week, we need time for our quality players to get back in contention.
I can see Cas winning tonight, just reading Powell's comments leading up to the game. Two crackerjack games in prospect either way, good end to the week!
