(Didn't Moz allude to the fact that he wanted to return to Leeds but that Hetherington thought that he was past it when he was returning to SL and didn't think that he was worth a 3 or 4 year deal, which Warrington ultimately offered him to sign for them?)

Peacock is without a doubt the best ever prop to play for Leeds IMO
We also signed him when he was out of contract at the Bulls so we didn't even have to pay a transfer fee for him.

In comparison Wigan signed Stuart Fielden and had to pay a £450,000 transfer fee to secure his services.

Think regarding Morley it was simply bc warrington offered him stupid money he just could not say no

The game is different now though . The modern game I would say JP . In the 50s we had Don Robinson a regular in the Test team for awhile .in the 20s Joe Thompson. Roy Dickinson who was no mean shakes himself always says Mick Harrison was best he saw . Steve Pitchford too.

Dont know why people bag Mathiou yes he was not exactly dynamic, but a sold enough player former Australian school boy international, rarely missed tackles or made mistakes and a surprisingly good set of hands, his dummy and try at central park brought the house down.

think for the rest of the mongrels he talked harder than he played is intimated by the ghost writers , jackson and hay added speed , mathiou didn't add impact compared to baz , fleary and masella , lucky with injuries at that time ran with 3 props when baz and masella out of favour

Mathiou was decent. Senior went for him in his autobiography so everyone now seems to think he was rubbish. This is not the case imho.....
Played 151 games for us. How many of our recent imports can say that?
Mitch Achurch played 81 games in 4 years, mainly as very brief sub. To give some comparison...
