I'm not saying that they should. It's not incumbent on the players to fix the club's management issues.
But without willing negotiators, the fans need to accept that the players that need to go aren't the players that will go.
I don't blame any player for accepting a salary that values their abilities at more than they're worth - I blame the people who negotiated those contracts in the first place.

| Well if nothing else its a massive statement of intent that this teams days are numbered and there's no favourites.
I can see a few more "negotiations" going on behind the scenes too, but as mentioned correctly above, "wanting" to move deadweight on is one thing, actually being "able" to is another.

| Good luck to the lad for the future. He hasn't looked right this season and it seems injuries have taken their toll. I don't think anyone on here is bothered about him going, all I read is that he hasn't deserved his place as a centre.
Good news is that Sinfield has shown some metal and rightly so, one or two more maybe getting the dreaded phone call. We may even see some long term injuries back playing sooner rather than later etc. At last commercialism has taken hold and the planning for next year has started already. Fingers crossed we may see some improvements this year.

| It's pretty big news. As said above, it's showed that Leeds won't be afraid to move anyone on, no matter how big a name.
On the playing side of things, I think Watkins has been a decent player for us, but I don't think he's ever dominated games or a season in a way that say Jamie Lyon did for saints. Overall, I don't think he's had the impact he could have done. Part of that I think is the Leeds setup being unable to make the opportunities for him. Under a team with more structure, like wanes Wigan, he's have been much more effective
On the squad side of things it's pretty harsh if he's been promised a long future at the club and they've gone back on it. But if he gets a payoff to write it off and the chance to get a good deal elsewhere will probably work out ok for him.
If direct there will be a lot of offers for him. He'll still have another 5 years at SL level.
I'd have a long list of players to ship out before kallum, but if he can be freed up to sign some real quality then it'll be a good move long term

| The players we might have a chance of shifting early are those whose current contracts don't take them to the end of their careers. Its all very well holding out for a while, but if their next contracts continue to shrink due to playing in a bad team then a few may decide to leave while they still have some value.

Pity Ablett & JJB were excluded from the NO FAVOURITES list in Oct 2018. Great servants but no way should they have had 2019 contracts.

| Itās really sad Kallum has left this way, regardless of what some say on here, heās been a fabulous player, and ambassador for the game, seemed like a model professional as well.
As an observer, seeing Mags, Peacock, Burrow, Hall, etc leave Leeds, Kallum seems the true ending to a marvellous dynasty. Good luck to him on his journey, Iām not sure heās finished just yet.

| Personally I donāt agree with those that question Kalās work ethic, he is a real professional with a first class attitude. Lots of variables effect playersā performances over time; I donāt think any player reaches international level without working their butt off along the way.
Kal always gives his best and I think heāll continue to do that. His issues are more down to medical structure and mental confidence. Iāve said before that my concerns were that his injury was a āmagsyā type where it has robbed him of some mobility and pace permanently, and he isnāt a great candidate for second row.
Without that injury, he probably plays at Leeds until he retires, but this is a collision sport and bodies break sometimes. Thatās nobodyās fault; itās just incumbent upon the club to do the right thing.
It looks there are a few more in the departure lounge too.

I hope you are right. I'd be surprised if he has agreed to this release without having obtained some serious interest from elsewhere.
Very sad for mine. Class act, class guy. Yes he has struggled this year but at 28, he could get a full pre-season in and be a force again next year. Can see him now following Blake Austin and Clark around and causing chaos.
We have virtually no real class and have now lost the guy with the most.
TBF to Sinfield he is not going to die wondering and wish Kallum all the best and thanks for the memories.

| Doesnāt seem like a very Leeds-like thing to do. There are some other massive earners at the club that are performing as bad or worse that havenāt as far as we know been asked to take a pay cut. The ones Iām thinking of are newcomers relatively speaking whereas Watkins has given great service and shown a lot of loyalty.
Itās not a great look to an outsider than a player that has given so much can be effectively binned off like this. For your sakes I hope Sinfield knows what heās doing because things are resembling the 80s and 90s.

| History will tell us whether or not this ends up being the right call, but one thing I'm going to put our there is that KS deserves some credit here.
He had some culpability with the Furner affair I imagine, but he made a call. He's made a call on the club captain. It looks like there will be others.
Sinfield is showing the courage to make some big decisions in order to get Leeds back on track.
We can't have our cake and eat it: in order to make changes Sinfield has to release salary cap.
I imagine he'll be attempting to retain the likes of Walker if he can for a start.

I suspect Sinfield finds the club in a similar position to when Powell and Smith took over and he was coming through. Very talented lads in the Academy with changes needed to the senior squad. I actually think Leeds can hardly fail to be more competitive next year with the changes being made - as long as we stay up this year of course.
In all fairness, and I totally get the injury background, Kal has been 6/7 from 10 most weeks this year and we're over half the season in. It looks like they've come to an agreement (pay out) and time to move on.
I'd be amazed if Ferres were retained next season, or JJB, Ablett. There will be a number of others under the spotlight, and I can't see Lolohea being retained next year. Ward I feel is going to have to prove his fitness this year too.
End of the day if you're taking a big wedge in a team under threat of relegation, you have to be performing well individually otherwise of course you'll become a target.
Don't forget this is the second such injury Kal has had in his career, and the club has stood by his rehab both times.
Leeds do try to do the right thing by and large, but we are in serious threat of relegation (again) and there is a case of some eggs and omelettes here.

| Iād would expect Watkins, Lolohea, Ablett, Ferres, Golding, Donaldson to leave. Possibly Parcell too for starters.

Yeah and when you add JJB into that, plus maybe one or two others, and we have the space for the +3/4 real quality signings we clearly need (and maybe a better chance of retaining Walker).

I think Cuthbertson, JJB, and Albert will be added to that. Think Donaldson might earn another year.

Me too, Donaldson has actually impressed me and for the wager he will demand he's good value for money.
I like Parcell too but his form has been pretty scratchy, but I think he'll be gone sooner rather than later TBH
