Yep. Our kicking game and fifth tackle options in opposition 25 has been nothing short of woeful all year. Just shows the ability is there though, which makes it all the more frustrating.

Couldn't agree more. Does seem its decided he will get at least another year though.

Wasn't Corey Norman part of the problem, or at least the people he and Segeyaro were hanging around with?

| Quote ="Biff Tannen"Generally agree with you but i think we do need a quality half. Problem being, who is available? I would stress, i would only want quality not some bargain basement, lst minute Falloon type signing.
Also, maybe a decision needs to be made on JJB and Delaney too. I actually think JJB may call time end of this year and maybe one more from Delaney but both look on the brink.
I don't think the squad looks a million miles away TBH, address the obvious areas and when we don't have an injury crisis we should be competing the top end again looking at the respective quality of the other teams. SL is not of a great standard and doesn't have a stand out team right now. the gap between top and bottom is pretty slim really.'"
I think eventually we could do with a second rower. As you can't imagine there's too much time left for JJB and Delaney and Ablett looks knackered this season too. Probably why we were interested in Westerman. I think we'll keep Ferres but even with him, Ward and Ablett we need another backrower with Keinhorst providing very able and useful backup. I don't know much about the prospective academy players but could maybe Cameron Smith be a loose forward option in the next year or 2?
I agree in general on the half back issue however we'd have to be talking a top quality halfback to bring in and they're pretty rare in the NRL never mind SL. As you say there's not much point causing the disruption just to bring in an average player.
I'm willing to give Mullalley more time. He's not impressed but he's been playing at a time when we've played poorly as a team. So I'd give him next season to show us what he can do and then make a decision. If he's not up to it then I think we need another prop.
So for next season the only signing I'd make would be to ensure we have a decent hooker. I don't think we need a fantastic one, we just need a good defensive one and one who can distribute the ball fairly well.

| I'm not sure what the OP has been smoking but those changes are nuts, it stinks of fantasy football style management.
At this stage I don't think we NEED to get rid of anyone depending on exactly where we are with the salary cap.
Falloon, achurch and hopefully Zak will be gone for next season with only seg hopefully confirmed for next season. The rest of the cap space should be prioritised for a half back.
After that it just depends if any of the many rumours of players wanting out are true. It's hard to predict that though so at this point I would be happy with a quality hooker and hb.

| Had completely forgotten about Walters.
While he won't clear much cap space, I genuinely can't see a reason for keeping him around. Likewise Luke Briscoe.

| Zak won't get a deal on what he's dished up so far but it's early doors. In the NRL that door will be shut pretty quick though.
What he really needs is a full pre season but that's a big punt to take by any NRL club at this stage.

| Friday showed us what we were missing. Nothing too special, just a Marc Sneyd type half back. Him or Kevin Brown would be enough, providing we keep Segeyaro.

| The Wigan game this week will give an indication of how far adrift of the better sides this squad is.
Hull showed at Huddersfield the week before they seem to be in a lull of form whereas Wigan appear to be improving as the season progresses.

I did - I said on another thread I thought Leeds played really well - do you think Hull played to their optimum or showed form they have in recent weeks?
You are maybe correct and Hull played as well as they have all year just Leeds made them look distinctly ordinary.

| Fact is we missed a chance to start a process of rebuilding this season. No way we should be looking at a finished rebuild for 2 seasons.
First thing is change of coach. Time is up, fresh voices needed or nothing will help.
You can't clear everyone out that needs to go at the end of this season, it would be impractical.
Achurch is obviously going, I would reluctantly say goodbye to Delaney. He's a luxury we can't afford. Been terrific for us over the years but he's shot.
To reduce the squad further would be counterproductive. Phase out Burrow and Mags gradually, again it's obvious they can't go past the end of next season but we need them next year. Same for JJB. Reduce his role on the pitch gradually next season then make that his last.
No doubt we need 2 halves and a hooker. We also need leaders on the pitch.
For me the minimum quality of forward we should have should be Singleton, we can't have players of his limited ability leading the pack.
But like I said, without a complete overhaul of the coaching set up the next few years could be miserable. No coach keeps his job after serving up pretty much the worst season in the clubs history.

| Unfortunately you cannot have ' end of season clear outs ' on that scale. Personally I would let L Briscoe go and probably Walters too. Give Mullally a bit longer yet.

Sneyd has an outstanding kicking game, ball in hand he strives to be average.
We do need a dominant half to take control of the kicking game, Lilley is still learning, and Burrow has never been that. McGuire hasnt been on the field enough this year and you have to worry how much he has left next year at 34.
Personally Jamie Soward would be ideal, and along with keeping Segayaro, Ward will be like a new signing and i think thats a decent squad to go with.

I kind of agree. any win at hull though is a good one. they do seem to be having a dip but they played fairly well on Friday. we just played for 80 minutes, a first, and showed composure, again a first for this year.
however wigan will be a tougher test and it will be interesting to see if we can back that display up for successive games

Also next season Joel Moon comes off the overseas quota as he has completed his British citizenship. Only Garbutt and Segeyaro would be on the overseas quota. Segeyaro, Garbutt, Galloway, Moon, Cuthbertson, Delaney all on the non fed trained quota, mean we have one non fed trained quota spot and two overseas quota spots.

| So Luke Briscoe apart, there's no-one that the club would realistically want to move on that are out of contract at the end of this season.
