There is plenty of depth there but I still think although GH has said everyone is signed up for next season, there will still be a bit of player movement come seasons end.

Exactly, he's hardly likely to come out and say some will be moving on next year.....it creates unnecessary finger pointing at who it may be to leave.

The only real thing with what he said is that Cuthbertson is a replacement in the 25 for BJB, perhaps talks about Leuluai staying have begun to take place?

Perhaps yeh, I've thought for a while with the way Kylie has played this year that he'll go round again next season. That said I think donald was contracted for 2011 when he decided to retire at the end of 2010, so you never know

I believe so, likewise Diskin. Also Lee Smith and Griffin, so I don't really hold too closely to the "under contract" thing.

Bailey and kirke might as well not be in the squad. Peacock and leuluai will be getting their bus passes next season then you have baldwinson, tonks and yates are all unknown unproven entities so when you get down to it, what we have for next season is cuthbertson.

With 2 minute cameos from singleton.

That you dismiss what Peacock will still bring next year, which is probably better than most if not all props in the comp. plus describing Singleton as a "2 minute cameo" guy makes you sound ridiculous.

Cuthbertson is the sort of signing all SL clubs were making in abundance a few years ago - a nothing special player. The fact that he's being showcased as some kind of marquee signing says it all.

Let's just hope he's better than the last NRL prop we signed that Danny Buderus had spoken highly of!

TBF, GH said we tried to sign him for 2012 so it's somebody they've had their eye on for a while and before he ever became a teammate of Buderus.

A big problem for any coach is players nearing the end of their career , some coach once said that it is better to let a player go one year earlier than one year late.
I look at Adrian Morley, he should have finished last season at the wire,and taken up an assistant coaching role at salford.
So on balance if Kylie wants another season I would have to reluctantly decline.
With reference to Jamie peacock, he seems to be an intelligent bloke, so I think he would call it a day if he thought his last season would be sub standard .
Re-Cuthbertson I would assume that GH would have watched him,so I am reasonably confident he is the real deal.
One slight doubt is , if he is so good why has no other Aussie club signed him.

Possibly no NRL club signed him because we offered him the security of a 4 year deal.
Worth having at Cuthbertson's age I'd have said.

You could argue Kylie fell into that category with his NRL career. He's been good value.

Kylie was indeed good value ,he has been one of the best super league signings for us.
A plus factor is he always seems to be happy with life in the uk. Some of the other imports never seem happy or settled.
Walsh over at saints is rumored to be homesick, our own mr Eastwood soon went back to aussieland. I assumed he missed life back in Australia ,or was their some other reason?.

I agree regards Kylie not having another year.I have said on another thread that i hold my hands up to saying it was a bad move to give him a deal last season so early, as he looked shot at the back end of the year but he has been going well so far this season it has to be said.Now we have Cuthbertson on board though and also have Tonks and Baldwinson back and pushing for a place in the squad with Yates to come back too i would rather remember Kylie going out at the top of his game this season rather than the strong possibility he goes out next year a shadow of his former self.

The guy has been a superb signing for us though and even if he does get another year (which looks likely), and stinks the place out he must go down as one of our best overseas players ever.

I hope you are right about peacock, I remember that old saying that the ageing process is like a clever thief,he just takes a little bit at a time. Before you know it he has the lot.
I am fully confident JP will be firing on all cylinders at the business end of this season. But to play at his level at the business end of next season is a big ask.
Looking on the bright side, if anybody can do it Jamie can.

a JP providing 50% of what he is giving at the moment would still be more effective and bring more to the team effort than Kirke and Bailey do.So i dont see much risk at all with JP going another year

Can they at least replace the old guard for a season or two whilst the kids develop? No

Everything points to a loss with them. The change happens the next two seasons. Get rid of two now, Bailey & Kirke. Blood Yates, Baldwinson, Tonks, Mulhern as a result of 2 spots been available. Then when JP and Kylie retire end of 2015 we will be well set-up.

Whilst it is all good fun exchanging veiws on Kylie and to a certain extent JP. All will be revealed at the end of the season. Shortly we will have some high intensity games, my nightmare scenario would be a young Wigan pack running rings round our pack.
This would not happen with our backs, or at least it should not happen.

Probably more to do with the clusterf**ck surrounding his entry visa and him then spending a year doing really well with the Bulldogs while waiting to join us. Hardly surprising that after getting settled in Sydney with the Doggies he was less than thrilled at uprooting himself again and coming over to England.

Lot of talk about some very young forwards taking on a lot of responsibility all at once. I can't see this club asking that - it would be a paradigm shift in thinking at Headingley. Very unlikely.

I would agree its very unlikely and it does seem that Kylie is about to join JP and signing for 2015.Thing is, with Cuthbertson now signed,Singleton becoming more established and Bailey and Kirke also on the books for next year where will the opportunitys for the likes of Baldwinson and Tonks come not to mention Yates?

If Kylie does continue then one of Kirke or Bailey need to be released IMO.

Kirke is 34 at the end of this year. I'd expect to see him released / retire at seasons end.

Kylie, Peacock, Cuthbertson, Singleton & Bailey is plenty of front-row cover for next year. With Yates, Mulhern, Tonks & Baldwinson covering that's 8 props to choose from.
