| Going on next season, I'd actually like to see Sinfield as our starting 9 with Burrow off the bench. Sutcliffe to 6, McGuire back at 7 and Ward at 13.

That would be my preference. I'd also like Hardaker to really develop his support play and hitting the line wider at pace, as opposed to playing the role of an additional half.

| Has there ever been an example of a player moving to hooker after a 15-year career at stand-off/loose-forward?

If Leeds did sign Poore wouldn't that go nicely after Griff and Moore who have been far from world beaters?

So our 4th and 5th tackles kicks can be even more of a farce?!

Hookers can kick in general play plus Sutcliffe is the 19s kicker in general play too. He and Ward are our future. He has shown glimpses of brilliance this year as an 18 year old. Next year he would be my starting 6.

This is what thought, unfortunately I doubt it will happen. I would be very happy with this set up, there are a lot of ball handlers there though it will take a lot of work and coaching in the off season to establish clear roles for all players involved. I just hope Mac is up to it
On another thought when we do finally recruit a new assistant coach I hope it's a experienced half back so he could work on getting the ball out better to our world class back line.
Andrew Dunneman would do very nicely!!!
Or dare I say it Sean Long........

| Starting with Sutcliffe at SO and Ward at LF is a must really for me next season....Leeds need to start thinking of the future and getting these lads to act as pivots and main kicker. Use the off season wisely ....
Sinfield at hooker for me too: even if we do sign Lunt then it is still a good move for interchange options. Burrow or McGuire at SH and on existing form/threat in attack plus safer defence out wide it has to be Burrow for me despite his at least once too often sideways crabbing

Would not be surprised..
Continues to give McDermott the perfect excuse to keep his old guard favourites in the front line without being put into a position where he might be compelled to drop one.

As long as both players are getting plenty of game time again next year i dont see it as too much of a problem if we see Sutcliffe play a role in the back row at times next year without the pressure of having to run the game.He is still in his teens and will have many years ahead of him to do that, we dont want to ruin him and dont have to force it when we still have the old guard on big contracts.I would play him at SO in the low pressure games against the lower teams and work him through from there. There will come a time soon, maybe next year but certainly in the next three, when his level is such that the coach can't afford to overlook him for any game in the SO position, its not just yet IMO.

I see Sutcliffe as a #13 from my viewing of him.

you could well be right. Will have to see how he develops in size over the next couple of years.Same as Ward,He hasn't looked out of place in the back row, as young as he is.

| 2 words when it comes to the size of a 6... John Sutton!
Size doesn't matter any more if you have the atributes of a good playmaker and Sutcliffe does. I'd even consider a Sutcliffe/Ward combo after McGuire shows he can no longer perform at the top.

John Sutton is a very average half back - always has been, he looks better because he is playing in better side.

| Aiton looks a decent athlete, and his tackle stats seem good.
My only concern is about his ability to direct the play around the park and solve our ongoing issue with distribution from DH, which isn't really Burrow's strength and which McShane seems unable to actually get to DH often enough to be a really effective option.
Haven't seen that much of Aiton, what do Wakey fans make of his actual Dummy Half play?

That's your only concern?
My concern would mainly centre around, what's the point in bringing in an hooker, when we will only player Burrow or Sinfield there anyway, as they have to be on the pitch at all times, seeminly our coaches view.

He's developing into a very good player these days. I never used to rate him either but he's matured and is better than average these days. He'd walk into most teams over here anyway.

....and that for me is the biggest problem and my reason for wanting a new "outsider" coach who will have the strength to do what is best for the team rather than his too emotionally close buddies.

Here we go again
If he is good enough (and he is) then he is old enough a la John Holmes etc etc
I too suspect that if he bulks up he might be a better LF which might cause a different future issue with Stevie Ward, but without a doubt I would start Sutcliffe AND Ward next season as SO and LF.
If Sutcliffe does struggle a little there is always the back up of the starting hooker (Sinfield) on the field to take over - providing we recruit that essential (at least bench) hooker this close season. Sutcliffe can always drop back to centre .. Or maybe even alternate with Moon, who has played SO too in the past.
