p.s. if he wants to go to Brazil to do charity work I would suggest he contacts a charity that works out there thats based in the UK. They would probably fly him out and put him up for free.

He’s going to Brazil because he will raise the money to get there regardless of whenever people on here give him money or not. Not everyone in this world is cynical and some people just want to help Ben do what he wants to do.

Anyhow I think he’s going to be keeping us up to date of what he’s up to when he gets to Brazil. I’m sure everyone on here is looking forward to reading all about his Brazilian adventure. Maybe it’ll inspire others to bake cakes so they can one day do what he’s going to do.

Here is a novel idea and one I use to fund my holidays abroad, I get out of bed approximately 150 times a year and go to work, work then give me lots of pennies for holidays once it has deducted enough to keep said spongers. Now if any of you would like to contribute to my upcoming florida jaunt just let me know as it seems begging is all the rage these days.

Ben does work and is working for his money. He’s just working for it in a way that is stigmatised by the likes of you. He’s also given loads of hours to the local community as a volunteer. Just because that’s not valued in money terns it doesn’t give you the right to assume superiority over this guy and every other person in his position.

Once upon a time I'd just finished school and lived with my parents. Not long after that I actually went to Peru for some charity work. I paid for the trip by working in a minimum wage job until I had enough. I did raise some money through sponsorship and events, but I paid my air fare and accomodation cost, so every penny of that went to charity.

Nobody except me paid to do up my house either. When I was his age I didn't have a house to do up.

Quite how asking the world to give you hand outs is the route to more independence is a bit lost on me.

so someone does charity work and wants to become a charity in return. Thought the whole point of charity work was a selfless act with no financial reward? Not knocking the lad for the work he's done but if ppl start funding trips for everybody who does charity work it'll be ridiculous in the end.

I have raised a considerable sum for XIII heroes (a Rugby League charity for players who have been seriously injured while playing this great sport) with events organised through LS16 Rhinos.
