| Am I missing something or does this not smack of Napaoleon Dynamite's 'talents'? What talents are you going to podcast that could lead to somebody getting a job?
I get images of kids doing bad sci-fi cartoons and holding them up to a camera, hoping to get a job as newsreader on the back of it.

| Damo, I've had the odd disagreement with you about your posts on employment and benefits culture in the past. Either you've changed a bit or I mis-judged you, for which I apologise.
Good to see you turning your creativity (?!?!) to something other than lists of reasons Leeds are better than Saints.
Hope you get the backing you need.

Girls only like guys who have great skills. Like bow hunting skills.
To be fair though, at least some of this has to be about getting kids something they can get involved with. That alone looks better to me when I look at job applications than just sitting around waiting for things to happen. I agree that these kids are going to need some guidance on content if it really is going t enhance their career prospects, but surely it's better to be involved in this sort of project than sit around getting bored and depressed doing nothing?

| Quote ="Keith Swiftcorn"Well, if that ain't a kick in the collective nuts for all those sanctimonious, thatcherite bottom-wipes who've made sundry disparaging remarks over your lack of employment over the years and pontificated that you should be sweeping the streets or flipping burgers at maccas and be bloody thankful for it as well. Of course, the supreme irony being that those disparaging remarks came mainly from those who spend inordinate amounts of time telling anyone who might listen just how important they are, how important their cosy little sinecure is whilst spending even longer amounts of time logged into rlfans at work, bludging a wage and producing nothing of value. They've never done a hard days work in their lives and they've certainly never done anything that benefits anyone else apart from themselves and their immediate family.
Well done and good luck with the project.
RESPECT DAMO!
[size=150RESPECT![/size'"
I know it shouldn’t be but this is the most pleasing comment so far. We should even fine tune this comment along the lines of ‘This is project is a kick in the collective nuts’.. to put as a statement on the soon to be established website. However I don’t want to have an all consuming lifelong grudge against these people otherwise I’d be ranting online all day without getting any work done. The people who’ve really made a point over the years are a very few thankfully. Although there’s many who’ve made the odd comment in the heat of the moment before - just as we all make comments in heat of the moment.
Thanks for the well wishes and respect to you too!
Quote ="craigizzard"Sincerely good luck to you.'"
Cheers pal

Thanks mate.
I’ll be doing my best to see that Emma Harrison honours are stripped (in my own time and won’t be focussing on it too much) for the way she has abused the unemployed. I’ll also be lobbying (via my local MP hopefully) within government to make sure she’s not allowed to enjoy any future success that this country may have with helping the unemployed. She doesn’t deserve to jump on the bandwagon after all the bad she’s done.
Since we’re on the topic. I think the job centre has lost it’s way thanks to all these parasites like a4e been around. But I have faith that the job centre will become a decent organisation once again as the staff I’ve spoke to agree with what I say and would like to go in a direction that benefits those who want to find work and not those who want to spend a life on benefits.
------
I will respond to others later as I’m pressed for time at the moment.

I’ll be leaving the talent side to people who are a lot more talented than myself. I’m currently in negotiations with a mate in Italy - www.altmusic.com/
I met those guys a couple years back. One of them let me have a few glasses of Dom Perignon at Norman Bar in Leeds. Kept in touch with them and as it happens they fighting poverty in Italy as well in their own way. They want to set up a link between England and Italy so we can help each other musically and in other areas. In the long run we’ll make this self-reliant so people can enjoy a better life in the music industry. There’s a lot of hard work ahead but I’m not shirking.

I’m glad I’m pursuing this project now and not in 2009/2010/2011 when I was mostly extremely depressed. But during those times I’ve managed to read the opinions of people on here who’ve worked in and around that industry and they’ve influenced me a lot. If it wasn’t for those opinions I would probably shun a lot of people because of my previous misguided thoughts on their intentions.
My opinion will never change on people like Emma Harrison though. People like her are the reason why this country is in such a state when it comes to helping the unemployed back into work. I wished we had more people like LTID who had no airs or graces (within reason I’m assuming) about who helped into work. I’m sure that if he worked in my local job centre I would have had a job by now. But that’s not even the full story because there’s other factors to consider also.
Thanks for the support mate and no need to apologise

I must be missing something also. All I can get in my head is 100 jobs applied for. I hope that is incorrect, because 100 in that time period in this climate, is sheer laziness. People out there, especially the ones he's trying to make out he want's to help out here, who have been applying for thousands of jobs without success. Your story looks embarrasing to those.

I would suggest that if you're applying for "thousands" of jobs, you're probably not being selective enough. There really is no point in applying for something you're blatantly unsuited to, and I can't believe there are literally thousands of job descriptions that most people would read and genuinely say "ooh, yeah, that sounds like me."

When there’s people more qualified, more experienced than myself applying for thousands of jobs and not getting them, then what hope have the likes of me got? That’s the mentality I have when applying for jobs. Fine I have been lazy (in comparison to some people) in my job search but my laziness is justified by what I just said.
I’m not willing to spend a lifetime on the dole applying for three jobs a week. Life is too short and no one should have to go through that for long periods of time.

Maybe you should aim your negative comments at some of the low life good for nothings that would rather spend their time in a pub, spending our hard earned tax when THEY should be applying for jobs. I also don't see the point of applying for jobs that are completely unsuitable for you, if you have a qualification in tourism but their are no jobs going you wouldn't apply to become a computer programmer would you? Yes there are many jobs on the market vacant but the vast majority are skilled jobs. If Damons project gets him a job then it was well worth it, if it helps get others jobs then it is a fantastic success and you should be applauding his efforts. With the right help this project could be very successful, the fact the YEP and other organisations have picked up on it says it is a project well worth attempting. I for one will be helping Damo in getting this project off of the ground and I wish him the very best of luck!

| Well done young man . I really hope some of the people that have abused you on here hang their heads in shame and dig deep in their pockets when they read the bit about the Aspergers diagnosis . There are a lot of people on these boards that think you are a bit special(needs) . You may or may not be , but if you are , you are our special person .

With regards to Aspergers it’s a very misunderstood condition. The worse aspects of the condition tends to come out when people who are diagnosed are facing too much crap in their lives like unemployment in my case.
However having coming across various people with Aspergers (including those in jobs) I’ve concluded (this isn’t a professional opinion) that the condition becomes pretty much non-existent if the person diagnosed are living a reasonable life. For example I can go months on end without even thinking about the condition because I’m not surrounded by people and things that constantly remind me that I’ve got it a majority of the time.
Last week I popped along to Leeds Asperger Adults and some of the stuff they were suggesting adults should do was insulting. The first suggestion was that we could go to an Autism friendly cinema screening to see Happy Feet 2. Now everyone in the meeting has done fine (I’m the youngest there by far) going to the cinema in the past. Besides isn’t Happy Feet a kids film? Also I wouldn't want to watch a film where people are allowed to make as much noise as their want and move around all they want. It's as if these things encourage people with disabilitys to act like that rather than civilised.
Then they suggest we go on ‘autism friendly’ day trips like bowling and whatever. It’s as if we’re totally incapable of organising these things ourselves. I only went back to the group because it was hard to keep in touch with people since I decided to leave last year. I’ve met some great mates there and I hope to keep in touch. But as I said in the meeting I don’t want to get involved with autism politics.
I feel that overall there’s a vested financial interest for some people to treat adults with Aspergers like kids. There’s big funding like the big lottery fund to encourage this. A majority of people I’ve met with Aspergers don’t really use the services on offer because there shoddy and unsuitable. When I raised these points in the meeting I was faced with dramatics by the powers that be and those who are mollycoddled by the powers that be. There was only around 10 of us at that meeting and that’s in a city full of people with Aspergers.
Finally I’ve learnt in life you’ve got to choose the right battles to fight at the right time. At Present I don’t have the resources or the right support to take on the vested interests in the Aspergers community.
On the other hand I’ve got the right skills, resources and support to carry out what I’m carrying out with regards to the unemployment stuff. Plus I’ve got the personal backing of the deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to round it all off. I acknowledge that I’m only one person and I can’t do everything at once!

I'm confident that by next week I'll have some funding so I don't have to go through psychological torture every time I happen to get one of the jobs worth’s as an advisor. Thankfully most of the time I get advisors that have modern values/morals.

That's a bit disappointing. You would think an Aspergers group, of all things, would understand the condition a bit better than that. I guess it's a spectrum in severity but I have two pretty good friends with Aspergers, and there's nothing wrong with their mental function at all. One of them does have a wonderful habit of saying whatever comes into her head with no consideration for the consequences. They're both perfectly capable of going to a cinema by themselves, and no more likely to choose a kid's film than I am. WHich is to say quite likely, but not because of their Aspergers...

These groups will get their well deserved comeuppance eventually. It’s only a matter of time before the anti-workfare activist turn their activism onto exploitive disability organisations. It’s nice to see that Tesco stores are getting occupied by these activist with regards to them advertising a job working for your JSA on the jobcentre plus website. Ok the advertisement was an error by staff at the job centre but there are people working for their JSA up and down the country.
www.boycottworkfare.org are doing a fantastic job.
I'd invite you to an LAA meeting if I though they would be progress off the back of the things you've just said. But it'd be like talking to a brick wall which appears once a month..
