| The way JJB plays you just know it's got to hurt a lot. And will do after he retires. His attitude reminds me of that of Graham Eccles. The number of penalties he concedes is a pretty minor issue as far as I'm concerned. It might be a weakness in his game but there are plenty of players with rather more drastic shortcomings.

You appear to be reading rather a lot into the fact I have posted a statistic.
Over the course of a season I do this frequently and it's always interesting to see the responses.
Quote ="Juan Cornetto"As I have stated any forward that puts in the amount of game time and activity at the sharp end the can expect to incur some penalties, many for offside etc.

Good for you. So you never post a negative (in your opinion) comment then? Insulted the Welsh language recently or called any politicians childish names?
__________
I post a few - often the reality is a negative - but as with most posters it's a mix of highlighting the good and the bad. I've no time for sycophants.
Appears to me you're not saying overly much here.

"Don't play the slippery eel with me young man!" and don't try and move the goalposts to Stats or my obvious failed (with you) attempts at humour.
My point is clear: that you chose to quote the negative aspect of JJB's play without balance. Had you also quoted JJB's other stats eg tackle count (29 per game) metre made (89m per game) and carries (13.9 per game) marker tackles (4.35 per game) or his kick chase stats or his game time stats in the same post then your point would have carried more weight.
As it was you came over as negative, possible prejudiced and somewhat churlish with regard to our well deserved Player of the Season
Is that overly enough for you?

This thread is about the juxtaposition of Jones-Buchanan in a team backed by the company associated with the 'Fairplay Index.'
If it was a thread about Jones-Buchanan's overall contribution it would have illicited a wider appraisal from me.
My initial response was in context to the thread title but I can't stop people reading more into it than that unfortunately.

The original poster made clear that the criteria for selecting the team had changed:
QUOTE: "The Frontline Index undertook a new look for the 2011 season, with the previous Frontline Fair Play Index that measured club discipline being replaced by a system that measures individual performances on the field. The new Frontline Index for 2011 recorded each player’s direct involvement in an Engage Super League match focusing on areas such as tackles, carries, kicks and errors."
Having understood the new rules of selection other posters paid tribute to JJB's selection while you alone chose to highlight the negative aspects of his play.
As I have indicated JJB's +'s hugely outweigh his -'s. with many of his penalty count being for offside which happens if you are quick off the mark, first up with a high work rate and high game time.
Putting it another way it is no surprise that Kirke has one of the lowest penalty counts. In your book this makes Kirke a better player than JJB!!

| I'd like to this this detailed analysis of penalties conceded you are now quoting from. Is it the same one you got your minutes played from the other day?
Last night Leeds conceded their first penalty on 3 minutes - any guesses who conceded it?

There you go again Mr Negative.
I do not need detailed analysis to know you have not mentioned the many ways that JJB contributed to the win. You still prefer to dwell on a penalty as though it were as important as his high tackle count and ball handling etc

| Does it even matter why a penalty is given anyway? If they are detrimental to the team they all cost roughly the same even those for offside.
Jones-Buchanan conceded one penalty last night.
Read in to that (and my bringing it to you) whatever you like.
Where did those precise minutes played this season come from the other day. I'm unaware there is a source for that information and would be interested in seeing it if it exists.

JJB has only missed one SL match this season. IMO he plays more minutes than any other forward and in that time he is more active and achieves more.
On the occasions when you have included the minutes played, which I thank you for (perhaps at my request), JJB has averaged 68 minutes per game which on average I guess is more than any of our other forwards.
Are you saying one of our other forwards has played more minutes for us? or has has made a bigger contribution?

Where I have said otherwise.

You're damned right it was at your request but I can assure you I won't waste amymore time doing it in future if this level of harrassment is all the thanks I'm going to get. Seriously it's a ball-ache of a task - try it for yourself and you'll see.
So basically the other day you used a 'total' of minutes played without explaining they only represented a random sample from a selection of Regular Round games that happened to be covered by Sky. So not really an adequate answer to the question posed?
Quote ="Juan Cornetto"Are you saying one of our other forwards has played more minutes for us? or has has made a bigger contribution?'"
To drill further into penalties per minute is beyond the stats I collect and I'd only be guessing - that said I did guess earlier that Peacock would edge it by that measure.
I try to point out when I'm guessing and not just pass off numbers as facts.
I'm saying what I've said all along here that Jones-Buchanan is Leeds' most penalised player by the two measures I recognise as incontrovertible: 1 - by total over the regular rounds and 2 - on average by performance.
At least by the first of those measures (even if not always by the second - I haven't checked - please do so if you wish) Jones-Buchanan is also the top Leeds offender in four of the six most recent seasons including this one.
The facts appear to confirm that Jones-Buchanan is consistently Leeds' highest penalised individual player. I've gone no further than that, not offered reasons or excuses as to why that might be or even whether it's even neccasarily always a negative trait to concede in certain situations.
Meanwhile you appear to have taken offence that I've included facts regarding the number of penalties Jones-Buchanan has conceded this season on a thread entitled 'For those who view JJB as a penalty machine...'

Well it may be to you =#0000FF if you are a glass half empty type. But =#0000FFif you are a positive glass half full type then =#0000FFif is positive statement.
eg 1: Rudyard Kiplings wonderful inspirational and motivational poem "If"
eg 2: "if" Bailey maintains his current form next season he may get the same awards as JJB has done this season. (as the sentiments I expressed)
However "if" you are a negative type you could use the word in a negative manner.
eg: "If" we don't get to the Grand Final its all the fault of Macca's rubber glove
