£30-£35 might be sufficient to discourage plenty of the riff raff who usually congregate in the SS.
No concessions either.

I must admit when I took a trip back home for the wire game and after we went over to the social club and my thoughts my god where have all the old lot gone?

That 4-legged ghost player in the photo could be the solution to the current centre crisis.

[iLeeds Rugby’s plans for the South Stand have faced opposition from some local residents and Coun Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley).
Coun Hamilton recently expressed concern about what he said would be the “overbearing” size of the new stand and its “inadequate” associated landscaping.[/i
All those Leeds RL fans who live in this chaps consitituency will no doubt make a note of this when you next come to exercise your democratic rights and he's canvassing your vote.

It's also a pretty handy artist's impression of what they're expecting attendances to be like under McDermott.

| I understand it was pointed out to said councillor that the planning committee could hardly refuse the southstand development plans after the Carbuncle sorry Carnegie cricket pavilion was allowed to go ahead.

I know/knew quite a few. Lots in the Burley area, and I'm never totally sure where the boundary is.

| It annoys me that they passed the residents didn't mind the 19.5m height for the Carnegie Stand but when it comes to the Southstand (Which is further away from the bloody road) they kick up a fuss.
Also, all the moaning about congestion and noise on game days... you moved in to an area knowing full well that every other week there'd be a game on! FFS!!!
The 10k capacity with boxes looked a good one out of the plans though. I liked the concourse and size of the scheme.
Looking through the plans though one thing jumped out at me... how the hell does the Western terrace hold 5k, 1k less than the Southstand. It's bloody tiny!

I was thinking the same, but reading the documents it says the present stucture is in a bad state of repair and I think it said something like the new stand will add to the area .

The recommendation was to approve the 7400 version, so its safe to say that is what has been rubber stamped today.

This document also outlines the 20 planning conditions to which the club statement refers.

I seem to remember reading that Leeds Utd built the East stand (is that the new massive one?) without proper planning consent. Of course that may have been nonsense, but I do remember being told that a couple of years later.

| Does anyone have any knowledge of how long this is likely to take. I'm sure originally work was planned to start before any potential play off games. To me, it sounds as though there is an awful lot for the club to organise before anything can actually begin. I would therefore be surprised to see the stand open much before the end of next year.
Have a missed a season ticket announcement, or are the club still trying to work out how they are going to go about selling them with the SS shut

It's going to be pre-fabricated off-site and then assembled in a fortnight over the winter. Saw a guy do it on Grand Designs once. Then he put a load of inexplicably expensive glass that heats your house, makes cups of tea and saves the world from aliens on the front and painted the inside white with about 3 pieces of furniture in it. Hate it when they all do that.

I saw that. IIRC most of it was underground too. We should defo go for the underground idea. Then we'd be Ground-breaking (pun intended!), the first Sports club in the world that cares so much about the environment we put our spectators underground.

Didn't the Norwegians build an underground ice hockey stadium for the Lillehammer winter Olympics?
