Agree was one of the better games I have been to along with the gf playoff against saints where they narrowly beat us. Both good games
I like to see the good defence and would much rather watch this than throwing the ball about without a clue.

I've never understood these people who cream over good defence - leave that to the coaches, we're spectators and we pay to be entertained. When our defence is good it's certainly a feather in our cap, but preferring to watch a solid goal line defence over a end-to-end knockonathon is simply taking the fun out of rugby league.
That said, I'd know what kind of Leeds team I'd rather be watching right now
'"
Well I for one enjoyed seeing Murray's pack flatten opponents as much as I enjoyed seeing tries scored. Besides, they're actually linked. Win the physicality an you'll score the tries.

Not at all I think the players are making some awful decisions. But is that down to desperation due to no structure and bad coaching or the players who were up to it 2 years ago no longer able to hack it as other teams have got better at what they are doing.
Would a better coach do anymore?
What did Bluey do in his last season? Yes we got to Wembley but so have the likes of Sheffield and London in the past. We were crap in the SL last year and many on here moaned about it. For me we should have got rid of 3 or 4 players well past their best last year and started to strengthen tis year but we didn`t and hence our position now.
Coach or players you choose.

Ill refrain from using the word clueless. Wigan play the game as it should be, control at the right times with and without the ball. In attack they have options to the front and out the back, with the big difference to other sides being they're actually options with everyone flooding through, both hover and push support expecting and wanting the ball running perfectly timed lines. Know what kind of rugby id like to watch.

You could see week in week out though that performances went downhill considerably.
The cup appearence and playoffs were like the last yelp, from a dying dog.
Leeds star players, they aren't stars anymore.

Terrible result today.
The death of Rugby League as we want to know it in fact.
It was heartbreaking to witness an NRL-style, overcoached, sterile, dull, high on wrestling, slowing down at the PTB, tackling technique obsessed, completion rate focused, percentage playing, grinding Wigan defeat Tony Smith's free-flowing, off-the-cuff, entertainment-focused Barcelona of Rugby League (that's Warrington BTW) by 44 points to 24.
Who wants to watch that sh[iy[/ite?
Oh, and that Josh Charnley is rubbish.

Were you watching the same game? 13 tries and all of them were sensational.
The individual efforts from Tomkins and Charnley were a joy to watch. Charnley is our weakest player in defence though.
You are a bitter man who clearly doesn't like Wigan. We played some awesome rugby at times today, nobody in this country can match us when we play like that.

Charnley let in 3/4 tries and scored two - I would say that was a pretty poor return I bet most sides wish they could attack him every play.
Compared to the NRL super man Hodgson however he looked positively Kryptonite!!!
Warrington were woeful the fact they scored so many points suggests the NRL tactics have some way to go!!

Yes I do . The standard of Rugby we played apart from the one off cup games we were pretty crap/
Read most of the posts from last year and they were pretty similar to this year.
If you think we played decent rugby last year then you are badly mistaken. Like I said teams like London and Sheffield have got to Wembley.
We are nowhere near as good as we were 2 years ago .

Very good, I almost smiled. I take it all back, Wigan were truly great, I especially enjoyed the bit where Warrington were on a roll and Solamona got accidentally crocked! I am no Barcelona, sorry Warrington, apologist today's game could indeed be filed under 'entertaining rubbish'. The point remains our great game is sliding towards the sterile and the mediocre.
Can't comment about the NRL in that I rarely get to see it. Results show the Aussies are consistently better than us but then it comes as no surprise that a majority sport like the NRL in Aus outperforms a minority sport like Super League here in Europe (not the North of England no really)

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I also recall G. Hetherington's pre-season agenda statement to the effect that certain clubs (he was alluding to Wigan) were strangling the life out of the game. The agenda being to prepare Leeds fans for disappointment in 2011 and beyond by directing blame at other clubs unethical approach to the game. Ironic when one considers that Leeds themselves won 3 titles on the back of a sterile and mediocre approach, laying on in the tackle, slowing down of the opposition PTB, grappling and arm-wrestling. The Leeds squad has grown old and no longer has the legs, the armoury, the consistency or the appetite to produce the same these days. I've got news for you. The game has been sliding towards the sterile and the mediocre throughout the SL era, and the last 3 or 4 seasons in particular. The last half-decent side in SL was St Helens in 2006.

It's a majority sport on the east coast of Australia and a minority sport elsewhere. Hardly rates a mention in 3 out of the 5 major population centres... namely Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Here's a thought, stop following the game then if it clearly doesn't interest you! When football started to become to farce it is whilst also my realisation that it is dull, I stopped watching or being interested.
What do you want the game to look like, all 'traditional' 1 on 1 leg tackles, I'm sure you know how that would look, interesting yeah?! I know many football fans who find rugby league more entertaining than their own chosen sport. The game is so admired from afar the bigger problem is some of the moaning from within.
Also nothing wrong with the tackle on solomona by the way.

Wish it was a majority sport even in West Yorkshire, that might boost playing numbers and the pool of talent from which to shape a challenge agains the Aussies! Sadly I think your analysis of the last 3-4 seasons is pretty accurate.
Not sure that GH's pre-season pronouncements were solely aimed as softening us (Leeds fans) up for a crap season. I think as a senior administrator he may indeed genuinely believe as I do that the product on the field is headed in a sterile and commercially unsustainable direction. (yes I know yesterdays game was exciting and pretty good overall) - my point is that there are fewer and fewer games even remotely approaching the standard we saw yesterday and that even yesterday's match was pretty flawed in many areas!
Of course I could just stop watching (and spending pretty hefty sums on season tickets for my family of 4, big games for 4, lots of merchandise etc) but I am what's called a fan and I live in hope that Leeds will be at the vanguard of a UK lead RL renaissance...It may still happen!

| The best British teams, 'entertaining' or not have had structure - Hull 81-83, Wigan 80s-90s etc still played with some structure. The fact is that quality RL requires it.

| Just on interesting comments, Gus Gould was talking about players' reactions to coaches. He suggested that players decide quite quickly if they think a coach is any good or not (well within a year), and that if they don't rate a coach and said coach starts getting stick, they are quite happy to let them take the flak. He reckons that's partly why they rebound with a new coach, as their excuse for laying badly - i.e. the coach - has gone. He was talking about the Bulldogs this season under Kevin Moore and comparing their effort to the effort under Jim Dymock.
The only difference between the Dogs under Moore and us at the moment is the Challenge Cup. The players want to win the CC badly - I'm not surprised at the increased effort last week and this.
