And actually I think he was accusing our fans of being arrogant. From what I've seen of his/her posts making the connection between the realtive spending of two clubs 20 years ago is well beyond him/her. In fact beyond grunts and tactless cobblers, almost everything is beyond him/her.

| Wigan spent near enough the same on Offiah as we did on Hanley, Schofield and Crooks put together. If you add the other signings around that time Cowie, Panapa, Botica, Connelly, the Iro brothers, Billy McGinty, Mark Preston, Adrian Shelford, Kelvin Skerrett, Tuigamala and Gene Miles, it really is quite astounding.
It should be noted that the above excludes the likes of Lydon, Goodway, Gregory, Hanley and Gill whom were all signed by the happy Mr Lindsay three or four years earlier. It also misses out the amateur talent they hoovered up such as Forshaw, Betts, Hampson, Myers, Radlinski, Robinson, Stazika, Byrne, Dermott et al.
Leeds spent a fair bit in the same period, most of it on crap but, in no way did we even come close to Wigan.

Really? You think after our recent history we just expect trophies? Sure we have hopes this year, but it would be unfair to say they aren't justified after the season we have had.

Is it John Prescott? Keep the kitchen window firmly locked if so.
I wouldn't expect HKR to win either, although i am intrigued as to how wigan will perform.

| With regards to the club call, perhaps picking Wigan might be the better call, giving them Warrington in the final? That perhaps a better option than picking Warrington, suffering a bruising encounter and losing a few bodies for the final.
Personally I think the club call thing needs changing so that Saints can't pick Warrington to avoid the possibility of another round of Saints vs Warrington and Wigan vs Leeds.
(all this assumes Wigan and Warrington get through to the next round, which might not happen).

I completely agree. The unfortunate only other option is that you can't pick the team you played previously, which sort of takes the meaning of it away and could actually make it harder for you to get to the GF.

"Club Call" is a concept designed to create some media coverage of the week 3 playoff games, that's all.
I can almost understand it applying to the League Leaders as an additional reward for finishing top of the table, but it shouldn't then be "passed down" to the team that finished second just because the League Leaders lose their week 1 game.
Highest ranked team in week 3 should be at home to lowest ranked by right.

I'm a little confused that it passes to Saints. I agree that it should be added bonus for the team finishing top. I would add that if they lose game 1 then "club call" disapears. There is barely any advantage to finishing 1st compared to 2nd as it is. Club call helps, but only if you win your first game. The major benefit for us finishing top last year was shutting up Stains fans for a couple of weeks before the GF. I suspect that was a major motivation at the club as well.

The worst one for that was after Tomkins second try. He puts the ball down just to the side of the posts, but outside them. On the TV you can see Terry the Fish point to the spot as he awards the try. The kick is then taken bang in the middle of the sticks.
Not a big deal, but the refs do need to keep an eye on it.

Maybe Phil Bentham told Alibert he was wrong, despite the incident happening right in front of his eyes and him making a decision on it accordingly.
Wouldn't be the only time in that game, would it?

Now now Andy, stop making accusations about those nice referee people
GCH did point out that they seemed to be far more strict about this in the second half.

| Isn't it the touch judges responsibility to mark the point of the try being scored and stand there until the kicker has taken the mark in line with the TJ before the TJ takes up his position behind the sticks?
That's how it used to operate on conversions at least. (Perhaps with the introduction of in-goal judges at the majority of games they've taken on the role (which would make sense) except obviously there are no in-goal judges at Sky games and that might create confusion amongst the officials.)
__________
If Hull KR (Dobson) can bring their 'A' kicking game with them then they have a chance in a low scoring game to knick it.
If they don't and they lose the territorial battle then I think Wigan have the greater fire power.

Dobson and Murrell seem on good for and are pretty smart footballers if it comes down to a percentage game.
HKR seem like they can be a team with a lot of guts when it counts, which makes them a real banana skin in the play offs.

The referee originally marks the point of the try, I think. That's why he points to the spot when awarding the try. I suspect that after that it's the TJ's responsibility to ensure the kicker lines it up from the correct place, as per your comments.
No idea who got it wrong in this case because I haven't studied it that closely, but as I say, I just think they need to keep an eye on it.

| You can see why Leeds let Murrell and Netherton go - their lack of pace was cruelly exposed last night.
Twice Murrell saw a loose ball but wasn't interested on dropping on it - strange?
Leeds seldom release players that come back and prove them wrong - last night was yet another example. GH may get a lot of stick but he seldom lets players go that he wants to keep
How bad must Hull have been to have lost so easily to a very slow one dimensional side?
