Not at all. the consensus of opinion on here pre season was that this was the Rhinos best ever squad. I, in my usual sage like manner, urged caution about bestowing such titles before they'd been earned.

But, like Mr Izzard says, if our knowledgeable* fan base considered this squad our best ever this pre-season I fail to understand why they would display anything other than pure joy at the squad being kept together for another year.

Fair enough. i thought the team was good at the start of the season albeit a little on the older side. i think what we need to start doing with the squad is blooding the young. if that means bringing in younger players from other teams if the academy isn't producing so be it. Opens up healthy competition and reduces the risk of having a 'transition' period

Is that really good news? The report in reality says very little, other than signed a new contract, nothing else.

I was told by a very good source weeks back that Bailey had been offered a 2 year contract by Leeds, but had been offered a 3 year deal from Cas and another club. He wanted 3 years, but Leeds were adamant only 2. I said at the time that I reckoned he would sign the new 2 year deal on offer.

I would be suprised if that deal signed now is only a one year deal, of which we are non the wiser today.

Thank goodness the rumours were not true. I didn't beleive them anyway, hence I ignored the request for my source.

I'm glad that key players have re-signed.

We don't know the ins-and-outs but that info is good news in my eyes. The detail will spill out in time. But again the players are staying on board, along the same lines of what Sir Sinfield's speech last year.

I won’t be getting a season ticket next year then if this year is anything to go by. I’m sorry but a majority of the season is a borefest. Call me a glory supporter but I’d only come out to watch this Leeds team play Bradford, Saints, Warrington and Wigan.

Do I really want to see this lot putting in mediocre performances against mediocre teams and still coming out on top?

We all like to watch Leeds Rhinos in different ways. Some of us like to be at every game no matter what. Others like myself like to be at the best games.

You don’t see me looking down at people for attending every game so I don’t know why people should look down at me for wanting to only attend the games that I view as good. A majority of the season is a borefest for me - why should that bother you?

Its true though. I find it (not) disheartening that all those who go to Headingley every other week to support the Rhinos don’t bother supporting them elsewhere.

On paper the squad looked excellent unfortunately it's hardly made it onto grass together.

like damo i've expressed concerns re mediocre games & hoped with this squad it wouldn't happen.

Possibly prior to the wcc we may have underperformed tactically but other games have suffered due to injuries & we're still in the hunt for the 2 main trophies.

Yes the squad is getting old together but this season has given more game time to such as ambler, pitts & clarkson already.

Any players that could have been released who better could they have been replaced by?

wait untill we get a fully fit side together and start hammering teams people will come back every season leeds turn it on at the back end of the season and when we beat saints and go to wembley fans will be saying this is the best team again, i admit we are not having the best seasons but its the same group of players that have won the last 3 grand finals so stop moaning that ther not good enough if ali n buderus were to go sign for saints or wigan u would be moaning at gh for not re signing them

But yeah I whole heartedly agree with this comment that Leeds have underperformed and are keeping they best stuff for the end of the season and the better games. This is good for someone who just buys tickets for the tops games. However if your getting a season ticket your not getting your moneys worth IMO.

I want to see Leeds put in a grand final performance every time I see them or something near that.

Wouldn’t it be good if Headingley offered a tailored packaged season ticket where you get a choice of what games you go to?

its nearly impossible to play at the intensity of a grand final every week leeds have lost against some weak teams this year for not respecting them but having said that i am going to every game now not knowing if wer guna win or lose and i like that feeling gets u abit more nervous than say 2 seasons ago i was going to games knowing leeds would win and win by 50 plus points so i find it exciting this year, the boys will come good when they really need and come the playoff we will stop throwing the ball everywhere and play old fashiond rugby and grind our opponents down by completing easy sets up the middle and turning them round with the kick,

I 100% agree with you that Leeds can’t play at the intensity of a Grand Final every week. Still I would like to see it but I’m not going to get it.

I suppose in a sense it is better that super league is more competitive these days. However that’s probably because the better teams save their best stuff till the end of the season.

But yeah each to their own and I’m glad that at least someone is enjoying their rugby this season and I won’t knock em for it

As opposed to away games where ed up chavs think its funny to get blathered on a coach/train and then attend matches and 'sing', followed by returning on said train, and singing in the carriages, providing what could be classed as an intimidating atmosphere.
