I never said it surprised me, however being out of position is not always the fault of the player. In an ideal world the players would stick to their channels, but RL is not chess, and although the details of the previous plays escape me, it could be that he was over on the left having defended a scrum, and/or made several tackles from marker/ close to the ruck. PLayers getting out of position is part of the game, the rest of the team should be able to work that out.

Agree with that. But there was a reason he was moved to the right. It was because King was not making him look very complimentary.

I haven't got an agenda over Senior. I was creaming my pants like anybody else over his try and have said so on this board. I actually think his attacking play full stop was great on Sunday.
I have a problem with his defence though, which I still reckon my 8 year old son would beat him one on one with.
It's funny I took my son to football training last night and was talking with the other parents, mainly cas fans but a couple of Leeds. They too were saying how good Seniors try was and had it been Wigan or Saints that Stevo would have had an heart attack. Yet all of them were asking what has happend to his defence, and that he looks shocking defensively all the time. It isn't only me.

| I think McGuire gets a lot of stick from some fans over his defence but I'm not convinced that it's the only reason teams are attacking us down that side. Delaney's defence is very strong and I felt he stood up to King and wrapped him up when he moved over to that side.
When we played Wire at home did Delaney line up against King too? I seem to remember him trying to get into King every time he got the ball and really dominate him. He missed him late on and they scored from it in the corner I think?

McGuire could have the greatest defence in the world but he'd still be targetted, teams try to wear him out to try and sap all his energy to prevent him ripping teams apart down the middle, it's quite common.

Agreed. Happens with all the half backs, but sometimes his technique etc is questioned by some. Think it was Gotcha who said a while ago that defending outside Senior is a lot tougher job than people realise at times. For me that has been shown this year with the effectiveness of Delaney's defence.

last week you dismissed man of the match voting and video highlights as valuable evidence to support an opinion.
This week to support your opinion to you rely upon chit chat from parents at your sons football session.
Priceless.

| I agree that his defence has been poor of late. Saturday it was highlighted and Warrington tried to exploit it.

And they did exploit it. Hence the change round. Good coaching from Bluey.
It is an aspect of his game that has declined massively, and I can not understand people that stick their heads in the sand about it. He is still producing from an attacking point of view as evident from the Wire game.

I can see your point Gotcha.
Out of all aspects of his game his tackling is his weakest area. I don't think many would disagree with you.
Having said that, in the Wire game he missed a few - which most did and he also must have put in 30+ tackles. Not everyone did that. I know they were targeting that side but he still put in a shift.
As with ball in hand, there's not many greater sights on a rugby field than a full charging, stepping, Senior. I, literally, would have just paid to see that try alone. He's still got it. He has his moments, but even in 2010 there's not many British centres that get the better of him. He holds his own and still produces.
I see him at Leeds for at least one more season.
"We love you Senior coz you're everywhere" - he was on Sunday.

TBH I agree with Gotcha on Keith's defence over the last couple of weeks (haven't seen many of the games this season so cannot comment on the whole season).
I disagreed with him when he was blaming Keith for "doing nothing" a few weeks ago when McGuire was beaten. I didn't think there was anything Keith could or should have done. But watching the highlights of last weeks game and watching the full match this week I was shocked by how poor Keith was in defence.
Looking at his stats on www.superleague.co.uk his stats over the season are still pretty good. He's missed 21/350. But last season he missed 22/461. In 2008 he missed 14/516.
To gain some comparisons, this season Matt King has missed 22/238. Brett Delaney's missed 19/294. Ryan Atkins 15/259. Matt Gidley 13/252.

| As others have said, a lot of traffic is getting put down the Leeds left at the moment to get at McGuire. If you want a balance of just how much traffic, take a look at the stats - Senior and McGuire were asked to make 61 tackles between them in that channel.
Having spent a lot of time defending with Rob Burrow on his shoulder, does Keith have the same confidence in McGuire and is it affecting his judgement of when to stay out and when to go in?
Speaking of which, wtf was Scott Donald doing flying in (think it may have been for the Riley try?) when the inside defenders had the job perfectly under control?

That was quite embarrassing for me as at that point I called him a lazy so and so. On the rpely I saw that he'd actually come from the other side to miss the tackle.

I thought that but after seeing the replay he didn't have much choice, wire created an overlap and made it work.

I'll watch it again, but I thought the inside defender (Sinfield?) already had hold of the centre when he made the pass to Riley?

| Just watched it again, Donald does come in when Sinfield has hold of Atkins your right but it does look like Atkins may get away from Sinfield for a split second, I think that's why Donald has gone for Atkins, IMO it was the good work and fantastic break by wire (Riley & Bridge) that made the room for that try.
