Cas and Wakey should be made to groundshare in a purpose built stadium between the two towns, why should their council stump up for two seperate grounds? It makes no sense.

As a Cas fan I do agree with you as it makes economic sense and common sense too.

You've missed my point,it's not about ignoring criteria it's about a big % of the funding coming from partnerships that due to the economic climate have been unable to fulfill their obligations.
Where this has happened it's imo being taken out of the clubs hands and that should be considered before any club is ditched.

Do we remove the criteria about attendances because people haven't got as much money so may not attend as many games due to the current climate?

The clubs have known for long enough what the situation is, and as unfair as it will be for the clubs who have to leave SL it would be a hell of a lot more unfair if clubs who have managed to get everything in place miss out because the rules are being "bent"

I know.. it's typical of the sun though isn't it. The only rugby stories i ever see in the sun are negative one's, only time i've seen it make a back page was recenty about Gareth Hock.

At the end of the day the clubs need to get on with it and be seen to be making progress. The RFL are hardly likely to say they cannot have a SL franchise when the ground is in the process of being built as that would just scupper the projects and funds would be withdrawn immediately for sure. So even if things are not completed on time as long as there has been some considerable building work with enough cash to complete the build then the clubs will be fine. Any clubs simply with 'plans' and nothing yet tangible to show for them are at risk as the RFL may simply tell them not to bother even starting.

Don't think that's the point.. it would be harsh to axe Saints considering how they're 1 of the 2 outright best teams in the league - they're not just making up the numbers like, say, Bradford

It demonstrates a wonderful lack of understanding from whichever work experience kid wrote it of how the franchise system works too. Given that Saints pick up a point on just about every other one of the criteria they're hardly likely to lose a franchise based on the progress of a new stadium.

Clubs that don't pick up points on league position or location however could find the status of their stadium being vital in securing enough points however.

Are you expecting the criteria that is in place now to be in place for the next franchise process. This season had already started before they decided on a playoff system.

I'd expect it to be similar - playing strength, youth development, location, stadium, compliance and facilities.

There might be some changes to the specifics of each criteria are, but nothing major I wouldn't think.

In a years time (IMO) the RFL will start thinking about what criteria the need to get the results that the want. This may or may not include having another SL team within 10 miles, a criteria which IMO was a joke but helped some teams get additional marks.
