Imagine the red face when I politely informed him Diskin wasn't even in the 17!!!!!

I then politly informed him Leeds were the side playing in blue!!!

fair, but Buderus' signing was never publicised as a like for like replacement, the line was always that Buderus and Diskin would work in tandem, ala Cunningham and Roby.

Saints kick up a gear when they make the interchange Leeds look flat when buderus goes off !!

Im not disputing that, im saying that Buderus and Diskin were intended to be spelled together, ala St Helens, but since that doesnt really work, it looks like Diskin is now out of the reckoning for the first team

I think disco might still be injured mate that's why he didn't play IMO. But you are dead right that was the plan but it's just not worked out that way. But I think bluey would always go with disco on the bench instead of Gibson in game against the bulls. But that's just me maybe I'm wrong ? But as others have said it still needs more time to work.

This was always the likely outcome of signing Buderus and everyone in the game knew it which is why there has been speculation on Diskin's role and future at Leeds ever since the announcement in March 2008.

I hope Diskin stays and hangs around the seventeen. I also hope that Buderus is left alone to do what he does best and that's control the game from dummy half for eighty minutes.

The team must come first.

1) I heard a little whisper a while ago that Disko's knees are not 100% and might not be able to last a full season at 80 mins a piece.

2) Given his length of service with the club, wouldn't Disko be due a testimonial soon for 10 years service ? Would it be seen as cruel to ditch someone just before they were due a long service award.

3) Why not keep 'em both and get them to develop McShane. Getting rid of Diskin soon would leave us short in the front row if Buderus gets an injury.

4) Buderus is the wrong side of 30 and not getting any younger. We might only have this season and next from him.

I always that was the rationale behind the signing of Buderus. Allowing him & Disco to rotate while working with Biderus to develop McShane so that he & Disco would do the same when Buderus retires/goes back to Oz.
Seemed an eminently sensible plan to me & one that I would hope was explained fully to Disco prior to signing Buderus.
I hope that Disco sees this and stays to get his well earned testimonial.

Personally I think he is just giving Diskin a rest as he has rested people periodically through the season so that we should have a fully fit side come the play offs.

Both Diskin and Buderus are out of contract at Leeds at the end of 2011.

Should Buderus decide to extend his stay in the UK with Leeds (not saying he will but if he does) Diskin has to leave (if he's still here next year.)

I don't think it's that cut and dried tbh tvoc.
Disko has to knuckle down and earn his place in the 17,apart from the odd match here and there he hasn't hit any sort of form all year imo.
He may well decide he's better off elsewhere and good luck to him if he does but i do think he should be grasping the opportunity to learn off 1 of the greatest 9's the sport has seen and enhance his own game.

[size=150If[/size Buderus extends his stay beyond 2011 Diskin really needs to get away from Leeds and get himself a start as a first team SL hooker elsewhere. McShane (assuming a full recovery) should be the better and cheaper bench option as backup to Buderus by 2012.

From a Leeds point of view it will save them a sizeable salary and enable them to redirect it at other priorities within the squad.

Being able to and actually doing it are two separate things.
