Exactly, other than the challenge cup there was nowhere else to go.

My doubts about Tony Smith were always regarding his belief in a light weight mobile pack - sounds all well and good, but if your up against a big pack your going to stuggle to make yards, then struggle to set a platform for attacking.

JJB was used as a prop alot in 2005 from what I remember, I thought he was the smallest, most uneffective prop in the league yet he reguarly went to prop during games.

Although the sacking of Ward didn't help. People reguarly said that Peacock carried the pack by himself in his first season.

I remember when Ashley Gibson was given his first few run outs and Tony Smith, when asked for his comments on him stated that "his future is in the back row". Many thought he would be to small to play centre!

Then we go back to the recent world cup where he only took 4 props forwards, one got injured and left us with 3. He still seems to think that going with a lighter 2nd row is the answer.

Not much to call between their two records at this point other than we were still in the cup at this time in 2005 and won the wcc, however bluey has now won titles at league world and international level whereas smith can't beat the aussies let alone nil them.

I also believe Bluey is a better man manager and this showed at the end of last season when the chips were down he harnesed team spirit as apposed to smith in 2005 and 2006 where the team spirit fell to pieces

Smith is a great coach but bluey is better

I think Smith is a better coach. However it should be noted that we have a weaker more unbalanced squad this year.

Smith by a country mile for me, in fact I expect Warrington to progress further under Smith than the current incumbent of the Leeds hot seat pretty quickly.

Would you say that 1 loss in 4, or 2 losses in 12 games was bad form. Not sure I would. Especially as those 12 games we scored 554 points.
