I would rather throw all of Donalds salary into keeping Smith. It is far better value for money, and much better prospects for us.

That's probably why you don't run a rugby club.
In general I find the idea that Donald signing a contract has any influence on offers made to Lee Smith totally bizarre. Maybe we should apply it to all positions where we have more than one player; just offer the whole salary to the best one. We'd only have 12 players next season, but at least they'd be the best ones right?

Dont get stupid with it.
Smith can cover 3 positions and very effectively. Donald can cover 1.
Smith is an international, Donald is not.
At this moment due to Smiths contract been outdated, Donald is on more money than Smith. I bet even what Smith is eventually offered, is on no more than a par with Donald. That is ridiculous.
It has already been commented and accepted that whoever is outside Senior suddently becomes a better player, with a good scoring record. Why could that person oustside him therefore not be a youngster from the academy (as we are doing now), on a much reduced salary. Why do we need to pay an Australian for that? Therefore if we did not pay the Australian we would free up that salary, and therefore be able to accomodate more players on the higher level (which is what will effect the decision on Smith).

Leeds salary structure works on more for an international. Hence the reason they have a problem fitting too many in on a top level.

Only an idiot would think that because player A has agreed to a new deal it must mean the club isn't trying to retain player B. With that in mind its' a nonsensical piece of fog knitting for you to start with comparisons between him and Smith.
Oh, and congratulations on writing the lad off after a handful of games this year. Shown your true fekkwitt colours there.

So on your basis:
Player A can contribute over a try every other game, play a major role in bringing silverware to the club and be regarded as one of the best players in a certain position at his club. However player A was born in a country where competition for places is far, far more competetive
But then player B comes along, doesn't have the pace, experience or scoring ability of player A, but due to the lack of talent in his Country of birth, he is able to play International RL. He is therfore worth more £££.
Is that what you are saying?
If it is, then you are also contradicting yourself

Do you actually have any idea what these 2 people are paid? This time last year did you think Smith was worth more than Donald? Personally I have only ever once known how much a player was earning at Leeds, and that was only because I knew the person who brokered his mortgage (who certainly shouldn't have told me). I know from that experience that the actual figure was wildly at odds with what everybody here claimed to be the "known" salary of the player at the time. Until somebody who actually knows what the salary situation at the club is comments on it, I take all these ramblings with a bucket of salt. You still haven't explained why you think Donald's signing has any baring on Lee Smith's contrract offer.
If I didn't know better I'd think you just liked moaning.

My jobs already been done. No need for further.
But by the way, I never said it had effected Smiths contract. I only commented on what the priority should have been first. Leave the assumptions to the knee jerkers.

Why did you miss off the rest of the quote Emma? I specifically mentioned Senior and been outside of him. What is that relevance to the other centre position?
That same centre position that a certain poster on here now wetting his knickers, actually stated that we did not need an Australian/overseas player and we should play kids, as there is no point throwing big money at a position that is not important. But of course the wing is.

The priority should have been resigning the GF winning man of the match before this season started. The fact it as waited this long is farsical.
Once that was realized they then should have been allocting the necessary funds (subject to not been out of par with other internationals) into that new contract. If they had to sacrifice someone to have those funds, then a winger coming out of contract was the perfect opportunity.
However, it might be they do still have those funds, and will resign what should have been priority number one. In which case if you go back to page 2 and in my response to Emma you will see I already covered this.
