"IF" these 4 Junior Rhinos players are actually going to the Bulls on a season's long loan deal and we are signing Evans on a season's long loan deal then It could actually be a way of freeing up some salary cap for us?

I'm sure that any players loaned from a SL club to a Championship club will thus have their salaries excluded from their parent clubs salary cap for the duration of that loan period?

Hypothetically speaking here but if these 4 junior Rhinos salary capped values added up to £80,000 then that would not count on our cap for 2020,so we would only have to offset this cost by adding Evan's contract value for his loan period with us would we not?

We would also have the benefit of having these 4 players playing at a far higher standard than either Academy or A team footy

Champ clubs don't have to pay the full salaries of loan players from SL clubs - the actual amount they do pay is deducted from the parent club's spend which can be anywhere from £0 to full salary. If the reported 5 figure value of the deal to Bradford I've seen quoted elsewhere is true then Leeds are taking the salary cap hit.

It's like one of those baseball trade deals . A star hitter for 4 prospects only this guy is not a star

Yet he'd be better than Evans at both.
This id a garbage signing & all this not costing much we're paying his contract & already its too much.

As ever on here, lots of people saying what a bad signing this is but nobody offering up any viable alternatives despite many agreeing we needed cover in the backs.

Very easy to manage a club from your armchair.

And that we've not actually traded our 4 prospects as they're off on loan to help their development...so nothing like one of those deals



Don't get the general teeth gnashing on this one. Were signing a cover winger on the cheap cos we have a limited number of wingers and one first choice is out for at least a few months. Meh. Seems sensible if not very exciting.

Well said. During last season the club acted and made some quality signings. I trust that they have more idea of what is needed than people looking through a small window from the outside. And after all, their jobs depending on getting it right.

This time last year everyone was slating the Donaldson signing now everyone praises him despite him not breaking a tackle all season and making about 20 metres a game.

On that basis it wont take much for Evans to win over this fan base.

The alternatives are already at the Club its called a youth policy & giving potential a chance.

Who in the youth system is ready to cover full back and wing?

He's another option. I'd assume that if one of the youngsters was having a storming season he'd get the chance he'd earned but if no-one was then Evans would be whistled up from the reserves. If it was a 50/50 call I agree the youngster should be given priority.

Stephens Broadbent Hall all deserve a chance this is wasting a wage on a has been journey man.
Also when did Evans play FB?
Some of you are talking like we've unearthed this decent utility outside back the reality is we've signed a part timer who used to be a SL centre that played wing a few times.

Its far too early to be annointing Corey Hall. Iwan Stephens definately could cover wing and full back and Broadbent centre and possibly wing but nobody knows how Tom Briscoe will come back from his ACL. At least Evans has some experience as poor as he is.

Broadbent, Stephens and Hall will all get there chance there 18 and 17 how on earth will they be ready thrown straight in the deep end they need time in reserves and maybe a few sporadic appearances in first team when they can loads of people on her would be calling for there heads if they were making some errors in first team if we threw them in to cover the likes of the T.Briscoe injury let them develop another year physically and there time will come. Evans is on loan to cover our backline we don't have to commit to him if he turns our poor for us when he plays.

T.Briscoe is done imo ,when he's played he isnt half the player he was.

If the youth is good enough then Evans won't be able to block them. If they aren't then he provides cover at a low cost.

I just don't get your issue. It just sounds like you want to moan about something.

How low have this club's ambitions slumped to?
Donaldson, Crosby, L Briscoe, Albert and now Evans. Bargain basement deals everyone of them.
Play off contenders. Not a hope.

In a salary cap sport you need these sort of players to cover your squad I'm 90% confident that none of those players you've listed will be earning 50k are year Crosby might be only one, you can't have quality all along your squad if you've chose to ignore are international standard signings we've captured as well in the likes of Hurrell, Gale, Martin and Prior, the club can't do right from wrong sometimes with some fans.

If we hadn't buggered up the academy so spectacularly over the last 5-10 years then we wouldn't need signings like this one. Sinfield has a huge job on rebuilding the whole club, not just the first team. We are around 2-5 years away from having a ready made production line of youth coming through that would challenge for the first team, so until that happens we will have to make signings that might appear less than inspiring sometimes.
