if a player is going to get sent off it is better to do so now, rather than when the season has started.
for Leeds, I thought Vickery and moon looked pretty good, as did McGuire and mcshane. as for wakey I think they've got a decent squad that could go well, but at the same time it'll be interesting to see how they will handle the expectations on the back on last season's good finish'"
At one point I counted 3 Leeds first team regulars on the pitch.

| Poore was lucky to still be on the field after the attempt to decapitate Singleton minutes earlier.
He'd done sod all either with ball in hand or defensively, and was obviously getting frustrated at not being able to impose himself against a young Leeds side, and lost it.
Reminded me of a young Stuart Fielden, nobody seemed to be allowed to touch him or give him a bit of his own medicine back.
For Leeds, thought some of the young kids who came on stood up really well in the second half. Some of these lads had hardly played Under 20s before, let alone first team. First half, McGuire and Vickery were unplayable and the forwards laid a platform. Hood and McShane both looked sharp, McShane probably edging that little contest.

| I was discussing a point at the game with a friend regarding the dilemma that faces Wakefield for this friendly.
Do they put out a reasonably strong team, fully knowing that Leeds will field a team of mainly reserves and hope that they don’t get beaten as this would be quite embarrassing or do they put out their reserves expecting to get beaten but have a valid excuse for losing?
This year they decided to go with a reasonably strong team but still got the arrises handed to them by our juniors.
EMBARRASSING!

| bring back the biff, an if poore had not have been sent off wakey would have won that game the extra man gives a side a massive advantage, such as running lines an man marking makes defending an attacking so much harder. If you have ever played rugby league in a team with 12 men you will understand any decent side would take full advantage of this as leeds did today

I like the way you state that Wakefield would have won if Poore had not been sent off as fact.
Are you some kind of fekkin' psychic or just a one-eyed deluded bitter fan of the team that lost.
I laugh in your general direction

They're pinning a lots of hopes on this oversized penalty machine.

| 20 minutes of the sending off were negated by the sin binnings at the original incident and then the binning of mcshane later. So for a little over half the game the sides numerically were equal.

| If we can keep moon fit, his partnership with hall could be lethal.
Ive seen Foster play a few times and i really think he could have a very bright future with us.
Singleton i'll be very surprised if he only gets one game this year, but who knows what will happen during the weekly rounds with mc's team selections and interchange policy

| At the end of the day Bailey is the most decorated player in the league. Had he have come through the ranks at Salford or Widnes he wouldn't have a pot to p1ss in.

| First game back and we're having the same old debate.
So I'll say what I always say in this situation- another one in the keep net for Bailey.
Didn't go today but good to hear Moon is getting decent reviews. Really looking forward to seeing him and Hall on the left wing.
Also good to hear in a few places that Singleton went well. Hope he can force his way into the side on a more regular basis this year.

His lack of international appearances for the national first grade side since 2004 would most certainly suggest so.

If my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle.
Bailey came through the Leeds ranks and therefore has a very big p1ss pot.

You mean just like when Leeds who went on to be champs 4 weeks after getting a towling by a 12 man Hudds! Doesn't always work out like that.
So you are just spouting crap.

It was relatively close up until the last 20 minutes, its s by the way and you're talking out of yours...
It would have been a better match had the referee not got carried away red carding Poore. Poore & Bailey should have gone to the sin bin for 10 with them on the field it spiced things up. I agree with Poore's swinging arm attempt at a tackle was over the top (& red card worthy if he'd connected with Singleton's head) and the referee still had that in the back of his mind for the sending off when Bailey initiated a confrontation & grabbed Poore (look at the replay if there is one).
Admittedly though some of the Wakefield experienced players didn't really turn up today and the game faded away in the second half for entertainment value from both teams. Leeds deserved the win and were the better team on the day though despite the crap referee.

| I think the Warning Poore got prior to the fisticuffs went against him but he was looking for it early on aswell its ok hitting hard and getting stuck in but it was obvious to anyone there what his intentions were and for an experienced FR it was pretty naive imo and once again Bails walks away smiling and his team get the win.
Of course it was only a friendly and that should have swayed the call to just a yellow but i think if he carries on in that manner Poore could find himself costing Wakey some SL wins.
I think both sides can take away positives and plenty to build on and as for the Ref he did also take into account his TJ's opinions before the red so its harsh to just blame him.

He has consistantly been picked by powell tony smith, bluey mcclennan and now mcdermott, he must have something about him it just so happens that it only took justin poore 12 mins to find out who Ryan bailey is and that #hedoeswhathewants

Poore did some legal big hits in the first 20 minutes and ran hard if you'd been watching. He was unprofessional and reacted to Bailey's grappling. You don't get State of Origin & 200 first grade NRL appearances for being sub standard. We'll see over the season how he goes when he gets in better shape, you can't judge in 20 mins except to say that he needs to control his aggression or he'll be no good to us banned.

Given the absence of reliable evidence to support the glorification and cult-hero worship of the ordinary, the discredited [i"how many rings?"[/i stick was first introduced by G1 for beating away opponents critique of any Leeds player he personally regarded as precious. It didn't work particularly well back in the day and it definitely doesn't work well at all now - especially when Kirke has collected FIVE of them

One of the touch judges looked about 17! When you spend over £20 to see a match then the least they can do is put a super league standard referee in charge.
Its a friendly the ref is in charge and should have had that in the back of his mind but I think the sheer noise generated with the free for all led to him thinking he needed to make an example to calm things down but it affected the quality of the game with the only recognised front rower for Wakefield sent off. Leeds had an abundance of front rowers in Bailey, Kirke, Aitchurch & Singleton and had more go-forward with Macguire running the game & outplaying Tim Smith.
