They only scored 69, and Offiah got 10 tries. But yes, he was, he resigned a month or two later, to be replaced by his recently installed assistant, Dean Bell. As I recall.

Factually incorrect alas and as Damo pointed out we can't allow any 'red rose county' types re-writing no stat history on here.
Edit: You've managed to combine an opposition score in a Premiership Final from the 1994/95 season with an individual scoring feat in the Premiership Semi-Final from the 1991/92 season. Throw one more event in there and we'd have an axis of humiliation.

Oops. Yes, you're right. My memory has clearly merged several thrashings by Wigan into one as some sort of self defence mechanism. He did score 10, but it was semi final in 1992 wasn't it? The 69 point final was 1995. So Doug Laughton was in charge of the Offiah debacle, but remained in post until after the Radlinski-inspired 1995 debacle.

Does Dean Bell count as a solo coach though? What was Hugh McGahan's roll?
Aside from having the token club moustache, of course.
Brent Webb currently has it, btw.

Dean Bell - Coach
Hugh McGahan - Football Manager
It made for a strange sight seeing Bell and McGahan stood shoulder to shoulder at their press unveiling at Headingley, with Bell resplendent in his red blazer.

By the same token, was Doug Laughton ever the Leeds coach? I seem to remember him being installed as manager, above Ward's head which lead to him resigning, and then Ellery was given some sort of head coach title when he arrived.

In my time:
Smith
Murray
McClennan
Bell
Powell
I'm not sure Powell ever had it in him to get to the next level, but he had a big part to play in shaping the key players in the squad we have had for the past few seasons.'"
Doug Laughton would only appear in my list of worst ever Leeds managers.

| Not read all this thread, BUT how can you judge who is the best team coach, and have McLennan in there when he is still the head coach?? He might go on to win all the trophies available for the next 10 seasons for all we know.

I never met Mr Dalby but his books inspired me to keep my own records post 1979. As a sheer coincidence mine start where his left off in the Headingley Story: Volume 2. Combined they'll always be incomplete though as his books didn't allow the space to record players making less than 10 Ist grade appearances and they'll have been very many of those if the last 30 years are anything to go by.
However I do know that tvoc and he's a right ****

1- Roy Francis (years ahead of his time in charge of the most entertaining Leeds sides ever)
2-Tony Smith (brought back the glory)
3- Syd Hynes (Lots of succes in the mid 70's)
4- Graham Murray (made us a real force to be reckoned with after nearly 30 years of comparative failure)
5- Bluey - (jury still out but on the basis of actually winning a championship he makes the cut - let's see what he does this season)'" This exact line up gets my vote.

I was just going on achievements to date. He is at liberty to move up (or down) the list as history deems appropriate later on.

Great full back at Leeds, the least said about his coaching Leeds soonest mended. He introduced Tony Binder to the club and that was a crime not easily forgiven.

Did he not say he had based it on while he'd been watching?
Personally while I've been watching Leeds there isn't a top 10. Am I too to be excluded from having knowledge purely based on my age?
In either event, surely McClennan's place in any list would depend on what criteria you use? How many of those top 10 you would put ahead of him have won Championships? I'm not suggesting that league titles should be the only criterion used, but is it such a foolish one as to merit your smug laughter?
