Golden point is trash, the elation of drawing level then the final whistle, followed by 0-10 minutes of tired players doing terrible drop goal attempts until one goes over. Point each, move on.

Yes BUT the two golden point game on Saturday were absolute drama weren't they? RL is an entertainment business.

Personally, I don't have a problem with draws but I can see why we have golden point too. I may have a less even view of this had we lost to FC though!

Never liked the concept of winner takes all Golden point.If its a must have, surely each team at 80 mins deserve 1 point.The Golden point should be an additional point to the winner.

Golden point just increases the drama. Not sure why people have a problem with it. Maybe give the losing side a point though. Love it

I think thats a decent idea mate. Personally i see nothing in the game ending in a draw but theres no denying the drama on Saturday was incredible.

Yep. Seems like a no brainer to me. Very telling that as a season ticket holder for 40 odd years at the sports biggest club nobody in Superleague or the RFL ever bothers to ask my opinion. Fist rule of politics is never to disrespect your core base. First rule of spectator sports too.

You can't unbalance the league's points system by giving three in one game and two in every other one so that's a none starter.

However they should move it to golden try.

Totally different. Putting Covid years to one side, all teams play the same number of games, loop games don't have an effect. But if you're fighting against relegation and the two teams around you share three rather than two points out of their game it could crucify other clubs.

I dont agree, of course loop fixtures have an effect. If one team is playing Saints 3x and other makes playoffs by beating Leigh 3x how can that be right? It impacts top, playoff chasing and relegation.

Hull effectively drew the game after 80 mins Sat why should they not get a point as reward for that and Leeds get 2 for winning the game in golden point.

Totally agree.The number of games drawn in a season is so small,so that sort of impact should be negligible.No system is without it s flaws just some systems are flawed less.

If we were in tenth, one point ahead of both teams below on the last round of the season when 11th played 12th and we got relegated because they conjured up a draw, it would probably be the biggest scandal in SL history. This is why it would never get enacted.

That's another issue.Who can legislate for the "brown paper envelope" scenario.That can happen with whatever system is in place.I suspect you may have more chance with your lottery numbers coming up, than the relagation situation comming to fruition.

But in a regular situation you wouldn't have both teams benefitting. It's a crazy way to misbalance the league table and will not be introduced.

whoever played leigh at magic got a gimme. that distorts the league, as does the lottery of loop fixtures.

I agree. Play everyone home and away and you have got the only fair way of determining league positions. How typical of the RL that the new season is just over 4 months away and we are not yet sure of the make up of the league.

I could live with forfeiting a home game every other year to the Magic fixture. I really do think the constant tinkering with rules, structures, world cup events etc. does nothing for the credibility of the sport.

I agree. Hull could miss out on the playoffs to KR when Hull played Leeds at Magic and KR got an easy gimme against Leigh. Now obviously it doesnt come down to 1 game its over a season but it totally distorts it and opens the sport up to conspiracy theories.

Imagine Man City and Chelsea going neck and neck for title and Premier League throwing in an extra fixture 3 week before end of the season. Man City get Watford and Chelsea get Liverpool. Its a sham.

I dont mind the drama of golden point but do think it is unfair on the eventual losing team to come away with nothing
There are solutions to this though. You could make the full time result 0.5pt each and 1pt extra to the GP winner or make it 3pts a win in ordinary time, GP 1 to the loser and 2 to the winner
that 1/2 point could make a difference in the end of year table
