A bad pass does not technically give the defender the right to smash someone in the face, and because Burrow is smaller than most does not give the defender the right to smash him in the face. The angle from behind the tackler clearly shows him swinging his right arm - that's a "swinging arm" I believe.
I did think Burrow slipped a bit (but then you would try and duck if soemones coming to kock your head off), but how many times do you ever see a guy penalised for a high shot that knocks a player unconcious without him getting at least a yellow.
If you replace the Manly player with Adrian Morely and Robinson with Ganson and you're looking at a straight red.
I don't think there was much intent in the colission but I can't understand why the ref gave a penalty if the tackle was okay?

The ref didnt think it was a pen otherwise he would have blown up straight away, he either listened to crowd and gave pen after burrow went off, or he was told to by upstairs.
The manly player quite clearly got him round the shoulder first contact, his arm slid up as burrow slid down.
It was a monster hit and perfectly legal, I had one almost identical last week, when player went off dazed I simply said play ball last tackle, players parents and coaches said it was high but if you listen to crowd all time then you might as well let them ref the game, just cos a player goes down and arm is near neck area doesnt mean it is.

I have a simplistic view also that Jason 'Manilow' Robinson wouldn't recognise a serious head shot even if he was on the receiving end of it.

Neither does it mean that it isn't and IMO Watmough's challenge was around the players head and therefore illegal.

I didn't see any shoulder contact just neck and the margin for error is small eitherway, no pun intended.

According to Sky the penalty was for a high tackle. It would therefore seem to me that if that was the decision there should have been some punishment for Watmough. I think Burrow was specifically and deliberatley targetted and from Manly's point of view a job was done.
