Rugby League wasn't born with Super League in 1995. Even if you exclude Wigan's most recent dominant patch (85-95) they still have won more trophies than any other club.

1. If I was glory hunting in the Super League era, why would I support Wigan? And why would I support a football club that has not won anything for 34 years? Your comments are contradictory, and quite frankly a little silly.

2. I haven't slated Leeds for anything in this thread, in fact quite the opposite, saying taht three consecutive titles is a major achievement.

3. You don't need qualifications to support any rugby league team.

4. There is no bandwagon in Wigan or East Manchester to get on. Yet.

1990/91 - Leeds 5th of 14 teams
1991/92 - Leeds 5th of 14 teams
1992/93 - Leeds 5th of 14 teams
1993/94 - Leeds 7th of 16 teams
1994/95 - Leeds 2nd of 16 teams
1995/96 - Leeds 2nd of 11 teams

Leeds were around the top third finishers every season bar one and the next best to Wigan in 3 of the 7 seasons they consecutively took out the Championship.

All this at a time Wigan were bankrupting the club (and the wider sport to some extent playing catch up), losing their home ground and destroying the competitiveness of a once great sport which was only then rescued with the formation of Super League.

On the plus side the assembled Wigan stars won the World Club Challenge in Brisbane, provided the backbone of some reasonably competitive GB sides, took on and beat Union in the Middlesex 7's and were the moral victors in the cross code challenges.

What happened pre Super League was a completely different game.
Weeegan were the most successful club pre SL, but since then they're just a small club striving for success, and maybe, they've stopped cheating to do so.

There are all sorts of reasons for supporting a sports club, just one of which may be that it happens to be your local club. Others may be family connections, family history, influences growing up.....
