In your eyes what can he do in the final seven months of his expensive, underwhelming Leeds career to eclipse Matt Diskin's Leeds career?

I appreciate he already has done in the eyes of most fekkwitts but what would it take in the eyes of a more reasonsed, enlightened poster?

he could make sweeping long runs most games of the season & be remembered like e.t or eric grothe

be a wily old pro like marc glanville or david furner

play his heart out like dunneman

or produce a final winning performance given the chance.

Or he might fade away as a player it was nice to watch for a while without becoming a legend.

The 2 hooker thing may not always be working but you watched the era when we were lucky to have any hooker to replace david ward and struggled after him. Hell the amount of one/two game es we had then.

Did you really want to have no cover @ all instead of a world best because diskin manages to get his dodgy leg ready for the business end of the season.

From watching and listening and reading over the weekend.

Just wondering why Buderus in two years would be in any way expected to eclipse what Diskin has done in ten years in their respective Leeds careers.

He's good but never five times better.

does this more or less confirm that he will go their at the end of the season and Diskin will stay and sign a new deal?

Was there supposed to be link there? If so I assume it's the rumours of the past few weeks that Newcastle want him back this season? FWIW I'm almost certain he'll leave us at the end of the year in any case, I never expected anything otherwise.

Same here i wouldn't risk losing Diskin or Mcshane to give Buderus another contract.

I think Buderus' spell will have been brilliant for both of them, especially McShane, and that will have been the intention. What we'll be left with is an excellent hooker and a back-up hooker who has spent two years being mentored by one of the best in the business.

I also liked the look of young Liam Hood in the pre-season match's and if he can live up to his early potential i think we have some great depth in the 9 role.

Still sounds like he's keen to stay on at Leeds to me.

People think I don't like Buderus, they are wrong. People think I want Buderus to fail, I dont. I would be absolutely delighted for him to finish his Leeds career with a win in the Grand Final but my argument was and always has been that we simply didn't need him. I don't buy all this about Mcshane is learning his trade from him but time will tell. We didn't get him to coach our players we bought him to play a part in our matches, a bigger part than he has done IMO. Rugby League is a simple game and while Mcshane may benefit from Buderus I dont think it was worth the risk of upsetting the apple cart.

I'm certain he is. I'm also pretty sure that was part of the reason for bringing him over, part of a longer term plan if you like. You're right, he should have maybe played a bit more of a part on the field up to now, and I believe he will this season. But I also think the team will benefit beyond his stay here. Rugby League may well be a simple game, but if you use the tricks of the trade you learn along the way, then you can play that simple game just that little bit better than everyone else.

I like to read the comments and discussions on here, but why does the apparent self acclaimed pious expert G1 consider anyone who happens to disagree with him to be a "fekkwitt" ?? (Definition?). As for a more 'reasoned enlightened poster'.... does that not have to include correct spelling, punctuation and the non-usage of specious words ?? Sorry G1, but there is surely no need to be so peremptory of others or to be so supercilious....unless it's just for effect and to provoke a response of course: then you're excused



P.s. At the risk of being a fekkwitt (sp?)...Diskin is a great player; Buderous is an exceptional player.

You could probably also add the fact that Buderus' presence has meant very few opportunities for McShane to get a game as well. If you were being mischevious and all.

He had a bad injury last year so it is unlikely he would have got much game time last year

I don't buy - and never have - the idea that some kid 'learns' so much from being a reserve whilst a great player is around. If that were in any way true then we could send all our 17-year old lads to NRL sides for a year and they'd come back world beaters. I think it's a nonsense fans (and clubs) have invented to explain overuse of ageing Aussies.

It's even more nonsensical to claim Diskin will have learned a huge amount from Buderus.

BTW I know McShane was injured last year, but isn't he fit now? When's he supposed to get a game - if both Diskin and Buderus get injured?

I think the fact that players themselves say they have learned things off other players should be proof enough of what a positive effect having someone of Buderus' calibre around.
I remember hearing an interview with Sinfield and he couldn't speak highly enough of what he'd learned off having Furner around.
Do you not think this is feasable???
Do you not think that players like Watkins and Coady will benefit from training/playing with Senior??
Players like Buderus,Senior and Furner for example have been there and done it at the highest level and to dismiss that any youngster or 1st team member could learn or benefit from it is a strange statement imo.
