The injuries makes the Widnes game a challenge. Looking forward to seeing who plays etc tonight. Bit of added interest now.

A pity Sinfield is injured spoiling his consecutive games run. He is a model professional, and the injury coming is such a game is bad.

I'm really looking forward to see how we do tonight with the youngsters coming in. i feel very optimistic

Mickey Mouse game it may have been, but it's effectively a mid-season friendly and until France or the other home nations are strong enough, the Exiles is the most competitive opposition available to England mid-season.

Somebody got injured. That's sport for you. Have you asked Sinfield whether he was reluctant to risk injury captaining his country? It's cr*p luck, but it's a contact sport and it happens.

If it was Wigan fans protesting that they should be compensated for players getting injured playing for England this board would be having a meltdown. No, you employ a professional RL player, unless the clubs make special arrangements in advance with the RFL, you let your players play for England, because that's what they want to do as professionals and you take the risks that come with it. What would we do with the money anyway?

And I'm not having the "of course they're awesome, they're in the NRL" rubbish either. On past performances I see no case for Jack Reed or Chris Heighington retaining their places in the England side, and they seem to have a gig in the NRL. Whether you agree with the current incumbent being England coach or not is one thing, but given that somebody is in post I think it would be remiss of them not to go and watch several of our players in action, given that they can do it in one trip.

Injuries are, as alluded to by others, the traditional way talented youngsters get their chance. Pity Ward's still out, but it should see some more game time for both Sutcliffe and McShane.

I don't really see much (read any) academy RL these days, but I was told by people who do that he isn't really a winger to start with?

Sinfield out could be worked into a real positive. He's played alot of games and minutes over last few years. With it only being a thumb injury there's still alot he can be doing and will freshen him up (no doubt he will be carrying little knocks). Better to be out for 6 weeks now rather than the last 6 weeks of our season.

Actually I would still like to see how Hardaker went at SO, but not in a depleted side which would mean BJB covering at FB and god-knows-who therefore on the wing. (It's unlikely it would be the obvious ChisholmDuckworth/Handley is it??). Nah it seems Sucliffe/Ward are seen as the future SO/LF and that seems good enough



Besides I now consider Hardaker to be the best English FB in SL (and that includes Tomkins) ....keep him there.

Actually if Minns ends up playing at LCin place of Moon (rumoured to be also out) then it doesn't really matter who's the 17th player: he'll probably end the whole match on the bench anyways

If Moon is out, I'd rather see Alex Foster given a go and Minns playing as a bench back row option.

Alternatively, Robbie Ward or Ben White on the bench to spell McShane.

Or Mason Tonks on the bench, as he was withdrawn from the second half of the U19s incase he was needed tonight

I agree that Foster should be further up in the choices, and would like to see that.

However, I would also say, that as a centre is out (presuming Moon rumour correct), would it not be better using Hardaker there and bring Sunley into fullback (as he has been training with first team all season). Or alternative stick with the centres/wings we had last time out and move BJB to fullback, with Hardaker at centre.

We have a good ready made full back in Watson who would be able to fill in with Hardaker at centre if that was the choice of BMcD
