What a great day to be a Leeds Rhinos fan
Two new stands... one confirmed, another merely awaiting its inevitable confirmation, thanks to the club flashing wads containing no less than £20 million to help finance most of it.
And a fullback signing who is alleged to be better than the poor man's Johnathan Thurston lookalike.
My glass is overflowing.
Another email from GH is surely due?'"
I am expecting a scheme similar to the one Leeds Utd had to finance their new stand before they went bust .Ask the fans to pay X amount of money for ' 25 years discount ' or was it free? .Most of those I've seen in the north stand don't look like they've got 25 years left. anyway that's what I'm expecting . He's gonna come out with a super duper scheme the fans are going to pay

That also seems likely to me too.
Some form of debenture scheme where supporters commit to a seat in the new stand for anywhere between 10 and 25 years. Might even have to buy some bricks but you get your name on them.
YCCC flogged 15 year debenture seats back in 2009 in that monstrous Carnegie Pavilion. I sat in one of those debenture seats (right behind the bowlers arm... and why not, eh?) summer before last and was told to shift by a G4S jobsworth
I think St Helens sold 5 year debenture seats when their new ground was built.

| YCCC's debenture issue was a complete flop.
They wanted folk to lend them free money & then pay more for the privilege of sitting in the stand they's part-funded to build.
Unlike Hants who at least paid interest annually on their debentures.

I don't recall details of YCCC's debenture scheme but there's hardly ever anyone sat in that Carnegie Pavilion. It's a huge green elephant
No amount of tinkering with Headingley will secure an Ashes cricket test match there either. There's way too much money to be made staging it elsewhere.

| If half the funds for the whole project (both stands) are missing, that must mean half the funds are in place.
Why can't we build the new southstand with the funds that are in place, then try to find a way to finance the north stand during/after the southstands construction?

| According to GH the work on the combined Rugby/cricket stand needs to start no later than this September to be completed in time for the Ashes and Cricket World Cup so no way can we get this and South Stand done at the same time whilst still playing at HQ

Normal circumstances no. But then again, with our probable season to come, crowds could drop significantly for 2018, which would accomodate this.

. Truthfully though, I don't think there is a cat in hells chance we would play in a ground without two sides. We are not Wakefield to be fair.

| If the North Stand rebuild is to go ahead soon, I'd be very surprised if the South Stand is replaced at the same time.
They are all very quiet on the issue of funding too and I await more information on that front with particular interest.
It's a lovely day today. Might go for a walk around Tetley Field

| YCC have just stated they intend to stay in Leeds at Headingley and confident they will find funding for the new development. However if in the event of funding not being found and they came to the decision to relocate I wonder if that would affect the RL clubs future at Headingley ? I know this is hypothetical ,but I bet its been discussed by both parties

| As far as funding goes I understand the council are debating which services to cut this week. IF they cut domestic abuse provision, child services and help for the elderly sufficiently, they hope they can find the money to give to Caddick's company so Caddick's other company can be given a healthy contract to build an "iconic" downsized rugby ground with no atmosphere and an "iconic" cricket ground that can continue to attract crowds of up to 8,000 for the annual May tests against Sri Lanka

| If YCCC can't fund the new stand at Headingley, how on earth will they be able to fund the development of an entirely new ground that will meet the ECB's requirements?
That is exactly what has bankrupted Durham & Glamorgan.
Hants have only done it due to Bransgrove's backing & they are up to their eyes in debt too.

I'd like to know where this YCCC funding for the new development is coming from, given the club is over £20 million in debt.

| It would seem that part Of or all of the funding trouble is that yccc don't have any money, it's funny that they want this that and the other and especially they are getting the best out of the new stand and we are getting a smaller new stand. I'd cut them loose and rebuild the north standard with a double tires 8k all seater stand for us, and just a basic seated stand for them on other side with whatever space is left. That way the new south stand can go back to 8k standing with a few courtesy boxes. We then get an overall crease capacity back to 24k ish

| Occurs to me that as further details about Headingly redevelopments come out, that there has been no tribute announced to Sinfield.
He was probably our greatest ever player and he has been retired fully now for nearly 6 months. Cunningham got a statue at saints and he wasn't as important to them as Sinfield was for us.
Surely we as fans can organise some sort of petition for something.
What about renaming one of the new stands the 'Sinfield Stand', it wouldn't cost anything and would be a fitting tribute.

| Wasnt the guy who did the Wembley RL statue commissioned to do one of John Holmes a bit back.
No bigger fan of Sinfield than me but Leeds born John Holmes deserves a statue before him in my opinion.
