| Oh and of course the Rugby Gods will provide their divine intervention should Red Hall's course of action not appease them.

Sorry but that's just ridiculous and completely uncalled for. Just remember how easy it is for players to be seriously hurt in fair play let alone foul.
Your an embarrassment to your club and im pretty sure if your players were shown these comments they would agree. Or at least id hope so.'"

If after 60-65 minutes we're clearly out of the game it is up to the likes of Bailey to target some of their more influential players with a bit of rough stuff and verbals. I'd also like some of our other lads to develop a nasty edge for games like this. It's all got a little bit cosy between some of our lads and opposition players for my liking. I would like to see Ratboys face rearranged if we're defo crashing out, by fair means or foul. Like you say, let's give the judiciary chance to show their "consistency".'"
Complete tosh.
There is nothing wrong with playing the game hard and fair, which is what I would expect to see. I do not want us to start re arranging people's faces just because we are losing! It's only a game at the end of the day FFS
If we are losing with 60 mins gone I would much rather our players got their headed down get a few try's back and make the score closer. Rather than acting petulantly and fighting.
Regarding our players being too friendly. I have seen no evidence of this at all. Yes after the whistle but in the games no favours are asked for or given, which is how the game should be played
As tez said of Barrie mac
" he will try and take your head of in the game, and help you look for it after the game"

And?
What do we lose? McGuire for a pointless game at the start of next season? Its worth the appeal from a Leeds POV in my opinion and I reckon he would get off. It's happened before with Leeds payers. They get the initial ban to make it look like they get punished then on appeal they overturn it.
Worth the attempt IMO.

| I'd appeal but you run the risk of the ban being increased if you do.
Not appealing perhaps sends out the right message and keeps McGuire fresh for a Harry Sunderland winning Grand Final appearance.
I personally don't care for the comments being attributed to Shaun Wane and would hope no Leeds coach would allow themselves to get involved in a situation that hadn't occurred in a game he was involved with.
I trust Leeds will turn up focussed and ready to give Wigan a really tough game.

This.
If we lose, let's do it with some dignity. If we win, let's do that with dignity as well.
I can't see the point in appealing. I think there will have been scores of similar incidents not picking up bans all season, but the law has been applied, so I can't see what basis there would be for an appeal.
I wasn't overly impressed with Wane's comments, which were broadly similar to that irksome habit football players have of waving imaginary yellow cards around. Not worth getting your panties in a bunch over, and not the sort of thing that demands punishment. Just a bit low class. Likewise Tomkins' tweeting. Neither of them were the first to do it, nor will they be the last.

IDIOT.
Lets save the energy to win by a drop goal or a late penalty (like 2011).
If we play well and keep the score close and go out and perform from the start... trust me, Wigan will loose their edge, if we don't show up from the start, Wigan will win.
And as for McGuire? Don't appeal, win the game without him, and he is fresh and back for the final, if he gets a place because I reckon Ward will have a point to proove if he is the chosen replacement.
Yes, McGuire is a GREAT Player, but Ward is also a great young player... wanting to proove something, and with Burrow and Sinfeild next to him this may happen.
All said... Since when did we become a side with 1 player?
Show Wigan up on the feild for making a fuss over 1 player trying to get a ban... because they now think this game is a done deal. Have lost all respect for Wane and didn't really have any for Tomkins... I would expect all Leeds players to be making sure Tomkins can't have a good game now as he will be their game changer.

| I am sworn never to write this group of Leeds players off again, so I think we always have a chance in play-off games. But with or without McGuire, Friday's game looks like a big ask. Not saying we can't win, but Wigan will be big favourites for a reason.
Identifying Sam Tomkins as their biggest threat (not their only threat by any means) is quite easy, I think quite a few teams have probably noticed that. Stopping him is a slightly trickier proposition. Not so many manage that.

I wouldn't over think it - just hope for the best and get behind the lads. Like you say, we always have a chance.
Come on!!!

| In the absence of McGuire Ward isn't ready yet to take on the role of half back. If he leaves Burrow at Dummy half everything will fall onto Sinfield's shoulders, he will be closed down and we will lose. Like the Challenge Cup Final.
Ward is going to be a terrific player for us, I don't doubt, and I would play him at 13 but not six or 7.

| Big pressure on the referee this Friday, he will have to keep a cool head and ignore puerile comments from wane and co. I must admit wigans response and attitude to Danny Mags has disapointed me . Also pressure will be on the disciplinary committee if any similar tackles take place, then one would assume the player in question should be banned. That is if Tompkins and Wane agree.

| In my more mischievious moments I can't help wondering what the reaction might be if a similar incident to the McGuire tackle were to happen with a Wigan player as the perpetrator this week. Really you would expect Mr Wane to be publically calling for a ban wouldn't you? Let's face it, since it happens in most games, there is a reasonable chance of this coming to pass...

It would be funny to see the reaction should, after the first high tackle, Sir Kevin dropped a little comment of 'Danny Mcguire got banned for less' to the referee.

| Just watched boots n all, some disgraceful comments from Phil Clarke he claims we were given the majority of fifty fifty decisions at the Catalan match. Also JP should have been sent to the sin bin , Stevo weighed in with some ludicrous comments about thuggery in the game to round off a very anti rhinos section of the programme.
Whilst I am not a conspiracy theorist there seems to be an anti rhinos feeling being encouraged from certain sections of the game. Backed up with Phil Clarkes and Stevos comments.
Are they all that desperate to prevent us going to another grand final, as I have logged previously there is a lot of pressure on Fridays referee . He really will have to keep a cool head.

| I would have thought they'd be more desperate to make sure Sts don't reach the GF again. It's getting quite painful watching them lose, even as a Leeds fan.
Let's face it, the ideal final from an RFL point of view would be Wigan-Wire, 1 vs 2. It would also shut up all those bleating about how 'great' it apparently is to finish 5th rather than 1st or 2nd. Last season would then be seen in proper perspective - an event that ought to happen every now and then if there is any sense to play offs at all.

| Why don't we appeal and just not play him anyway as a big salute to Mr Wane and Mr Tomkins.
Like has been mentioned we are far from a one man team and the biggest attribute this team have had is the ability to work as a unit. We are very capable of turning Wigan over and I am hoping for a great night in Pie Land.

Very sporting , goes well with McDermotts comments after the Catalan game about " doing whatever it takes to win".

Yeeeeeees. That's the same. Really.
Play-offs are a results business. Any team that won't do whatever it takes to win isn't going to get very far.

| More opposite than the same I'd have said as having a 'nice air-clearing dust up' in the last minute of a game you're apparently about to lose has got little, if anything at all, in common with 'doing whatever it takes to win.'

Never let details like that interfere with a good round of teeth-gnashing and hand-wringing.
