| Quote ="Lawrie"tvoc in Super League era, who is our most succesful winger (in terms of trys per game ratio)'"
In those terms the four most successful (Williams, Calderwood, Donald and Bai) ratios appear in the list on the previous page.
Leeds SL wingers list (open to suggestions for any others for consideration):
Danny Williams: 15, 12, 0.80
Mark Calderwood: 143, 106, 0.74
Scott Donald: 74, 53, 0.72
Marcus Bai: 63, 45, 0.71
Paul Sterling: 102, 55, 0.54
Francis Cummins: 268, 136, 0.51
Graham Mackay: 20, 10, 0.50
Lee Smith: 58, 29, 0.50
Karl Pratt: 80, 38, 0.48
Leroy Rivett: 68, 30, 0.44
Ryan Hall: 12, 5, 0.42
Note: These are ratios (all games SL Era) for player's who predominantly played on the wing. These are player complete totals regardless of position played on any given day.
You may wish to exclude Cummins as his total comprises starts as follows:
Wing 124, Full Back 81, Centre 46, Stand Off 4 + 13 Bench

You mean you are short changing us and not giving us enough detail? Getting lazy tvoc.
Out of interest though I am sure you do have the actual record for Cummins from those starting on the wing? I did not realize he played so many times from the Centre berth, but cant see he would have scored too many of those tries from that position.

I didn't and don't even have the ratios by player but the information to get to the ratios is there should I wish to retrieve it and that was a two minute job.
To get to the split figures per player would be possible but it would take quite some time. For the purpose of the list produced, I'd have to do the same for the other players also.
Something for another day perhaps. If I could get to the split figures easily I would but unfortunately I can't. Sorry.

Thats fine tvoc. Have a feeling Cummins from the wing will show pretty good ratios though. Not that it does not above.

Having touched on Goals against last week, here are the top try scorers against Leeds of the SL Era:
19 - Robbie Paul
16 - Lesley Vainikolo, Paul Sculthorpe
14 - Anthony Sullivan, Paul Newlove, Gareth Raynor
12 - Tevita Vaikona, Keiron Cunningham, Henry Paul
11 - Leon Pryce, Henry Fa'afili
10 - Anthony Stewart, Kris Radlinski, Jon Wells, Jason Robinson, James Lowes
'"
That would be a really good trivia question. I doubt many people would come up with Robbie Paul as the top try scorer against Leeds.

Joe Thompson 1,883
If you're looking for Leeds 50/50 opponent of the SL Era (head to head) then look no further than St Helens.

At Neutral Venues:

He could be second by the end of the season then, a long way to go to catch first though, he’ll have to start scoring some four pointers to get anywhere near that.

I'd be amazed if he got to the top of the list, but I reckon he's pretty much nailed on for second place. Add that to the fact he's the only player to have captained us to 2 titles, has lead us in more major finals than any other player (I think) and, all being well, he's got a good few years to add to this tally and you're looking at one of the true Leeds greats in the making.

A quick tally suggests he might not be far away by the end of his current Leeds contract in 2011. By that time he'll be just turned 31 so it's quite possible there could be another deal for another couple of seasons (obviously depending on several factors but Keith Senior and Jamie Peacock would be current examples of how it could pan out.)
Sinfield has only started amassing serious seasonal totals since he took on the goal kicking role full time (naturally enough) in 2003. In the last 5 full seasons he has knocked off 1,448 points at an average of 289 a season.
If he can maintain that average over the next 4 seasons (including this one, taking him to the end of his current deal) then he could be within touching distance of the summit. Of course this all requires his body to stay in one piece which is far from a given but (like Senior) he has a good track record so far in that regard.

There's also the possibility of him coaching the club at some point in the future.

| Looking at the winger stats, if you factor in the 'assuming the role of a forward', it shows how important Bai was to the team (despite the one mistake that any player could make!!!).

Bai was brilliant to watch too, you’d stand there cringing as he tried to run through a brick wall when it would just be far easier to step round the man.
The forwards must have thought it was Christmas when they saw him taking the ball in early and doing the hard yards.

I don't have any figures for players not at Leeds unfortunately.
I'd be cautious if you're using the [url=http://www.superleague.co.uk/records.phpSL Website[/url for those Farrell figures. I have no means of checking their accuracy (they may well be) but on the subject of Kevin Sinfield he doesn't appear in the totals as often as he should.
For instance they don't have him anywhere in the top 14 points scorers for a SL Regular Season when in actual fact his 2004 and 2005 totals of 277 & 274 should place him 12th and 13th on the list.
Likewise his best goalkicking Regular Season return of 132 (including Drop Goals) should place him 7th on the list whereas he isn't even listed as Leeds' top marksman.
It's not just the player stats that don't always add up either. These [url=http://www.superleague.co.uk/article.php?id=10177attendance figures[/url leave a bit to be desired as well. Taking the aggregate and dividing by the number of games played to arrive at the average is just about as straightforward as it gets but that's something else that doesn't add up on Official SL site.
Should Carl Ablett start (as seems highly likely given the make-up of the squad available) he will finally make his Full Leeds Debut, almost 3 years and 9 months after making his debut.

| Leeds' Top 5 Try Scorers of the SL Era (All Comps)
1 - Francis Cummins - 136 (268 Appearances)
2 - Keith Senior - 135 (267 Appearances)
3 - Danny McGuire - 133 (167 Appearances)
4 - Rob Burrow - 107 (223 Appearances)
5 - Mark Calderwood - 106 (143 Appearances)
So this one should finally see a new leader shortly and probably another new name at the top by the season end.
Kevin Sinfield requires 4 goals for 800 (2 pointers) for Leeds.
A few minor individual milestones should the following play in Cardiff: All Comps unless stated
Luke Burgess - set to make his 10th Appearance
Jordan Tansey - his 40th Appearance
Brent Webb - his 40th Appearance and Start
Nick Scruton - his 50th SL Reg Round Appearance
Nick Scruton - his 60th Appearance
Jamie Peacock - his 70th Start
Scott Donald - his 80th Consecutive Appearance and Start
Matt Diskin - his 190th Appearance

| Just shows that Cummins' strike rate wasn't all that shabby, even though he was much maligned. His best years were with Brad Godden at centre but even so he did pretty well over a long period. In a way it's a pity he didn't stay on as a squad player as he could well have hit 200 tries for Leeds.

| Just to complete Cummins' Leeds try scoring record as obviously he is the only player in the top 5 that also pre-dated SL.
1993/4 to 1995/6 - 52 (87 Appearances)
His Leeds total therefore stands at 188 (355 Appearances)
A quick compilation of Leeds' all time top 10 Try List (cobbled together so subject to minor alteration)
Eric Harris - 391
John Atkinson - 340
Alan Smith - 283
Drew Turnbull - 228
Les Dyl - 193
Francis Cummins - 188
Stan Smith - 187
Syd Hynes - 158
Garry Schofield - 147
Lewis Jones - 144

I seem to remember something on the attendance being raised last year. IIRC they "guesstimated" the amount of people in the Millenium Stadium for each match and used that when calculating the average, despite only releasing one overall attendance figure for each day of the event. Amazingly, doing it that way allowed them to break the 10k average for the first time.

All a bit convenient, almost RU like accounting there.
I'm a bit of a simpleton. I took the published daily attendance figure reported and divided by three.
Interestingly after the first 12 rounds (72 games) this season the average SL attendance is 'genuinely' above 10,000.
