| Quote ="BrisbaneRhino"Matty - you can't have watched the second half of the season if you think Reed has been poor. Have a look at how many tries he's scored and set up for Hoffman and Oates. He's also rated by Wally Lewis as the best defensive centre in the NRL. He was poor early, when he looked off the pace, but he's been one of the few bright spots for the Broncos this year.'"
You're right, I haven't seen much of him lately so I was basing my opinion of his earlier season form which wasn't too impressive IMO, from what you've said it sounds like he's come good at the right time for England selection, Cudjoe has impressed me a lot this season so it will be interesting to see who gets selected to start, I'd imagine that they both will make the squad

| Reed and Hall had a great understanding in 2011. With those two on the left and the sheer pace on the other side in Watkins and Charnley, we've got a pretty good balance in the three quarters.

| I actually think we have the players to beat the Aussies and Kiwis. The problem is our execution. You watch those two teams play and it's at pace and accurate. We can look disjointed and like they haven't had much time to prepare. Fingers crossed the training camps pay off

Missed O'loughlin due to injury, the other Burgess bro's not good enough to displace others'"
Ratchford has definitely been pushing. Good footballer, but looks best at FB for me and there is tough competition there.
Chase has great stats and really takes advantage of the space you get at SL level sometimes. However, I don't think his game is suited to the claustrophobic defence at international level.
Looks like for the first time in a long while we actually have some options, there have been several good teams posted so far, yours included.

| I include Ratchford because he can play centres, halfback and fullback, even slip in at hooker at a push, an injury during the game and you slip a 2nd row into centres and move him accordingly.
I know this is the Leeds board so i expect comeback but Sinfield is never an international halfback in a month of sundays, his best performances have been at hooker or with O'Loughlin missing put him at 13. I know he's played it for you guys most of the season but he's never done anything special at HB for England, and it's the 'for England' bit that's important.
He has to play, he's the greatest Captain this country will see in a very long time but he has to be in the pack for me.

| Im begining to come round to your way of thinking regards sinfield at half back for england.trouble is now, with Widdop injured and brough cast aside it really only leaves chase.if i was mcnamara right now i would be considering sinfield at 9 and maybe moving tomkins into the halves and playing either ratchford or hardaker at full back.good thing is he has plenty of options for once but i still expect the spine of tomkins, sinfield, chase and roby come the WC.

Not a chance. He was at a supporters club meeting with us a couple of weeks ago and has zero interest. Plus he's deliberately booked a holiday so he misses the first England game.

| Stick Sinfield at dummy half and your kicking game completely disappears. None of the other options at 6 or 7 can match his ability to find space or accuracy of attacking kicks.

| This is the best england team we've had in super league. Decent options in every position. Halfback is probably the weaker area.

what about sinny not being at dummy half on the last play of the set?
i would have sinny and myler interchanging throughout the game at dummy half

| Will widdop be fit? I'd llike to see him at 6 with sinfield. Sinfield can do what he does for leeds, widdop can do what he does for melbourne.
Lunt and roby should rotate at hooker.

| IMO Hardaker is England's best FB: we are going to need his much superior one on one tackling against Oz. Tomkins will be better utilised in the half backs with Sinfield at hooker...who from there could always drop back for last tackle plays. Leeds belatedly have realised this to great effect.

| Have seen the following NRL this year: zero.
So I will suggest an all-SL team and accept that NRL players would be added as and where they're better. So long as they're not picked purely on the basis that they play in the NRL, as has been the case on some past occasions.
1. Tomkins
2. Charnley
3. Watkins
4. Cudjoe
5. Hall
6. Sinfield
7. Myler
8. Mossop
9. Roby (will he be fit?)
10. Crabtree
11. Ferres
12. Farrell
13. Westwood
14. Hill
15. LMS
16. Lunt
17. Kirmond
I base this on what I've seen over the season mixed with some knowledge of what players can produce from previous matches. Has to be a balance of those IMO, especially when picking somebody like Roby.
For all that, if players have a really strong play-off series then they come into contention. Partly becasue of form, but also because players who are consistent over the course of a long season aren't necessarily what you're looking for. We're basically talking about doing the job for 3 or 4 big matches. Bit like the play-offs. The right mentality for those occasions is crucial.

| I'd pick:
Tomkins (Hardaker is a more than adaquate back up, but I think Tomkins extra ball playing ability gives him the edge.
Charnley (I wouldn't mind Lineham getting a chance)
Watkins
Cudjoe
Hall
Sinfield
Chase
Graham
Roby
Hill
Westwood
Kirmond/Farrell/Ellis/Ablett/Ferres
S Burges
Burrow
Crabtree
G Burgess
Hock
Mossop
Reed
Hardaker
Kirmond/Farrell/Ellis/Ablett/Ferres
Myler

| I know Tomkins is the darling boy of SL, but if you watched the wigan game last week Zak looked double the player Sam is
He took some world class catches under alot of pressure and never looked like dropping any...where as Sam was getting beat to the ball, letting the ball bounce and dropping catches. I know most will say he had an off night, but sometimes you have to pick on form not just the name...he will get destroyed by the aussie's if he plays anywhere near the way he played versus Leeds

Much like some keep telling us Sinfield is not an international half back, Tomkins is also not an international fullback.
He needs to be in the team, but he is seriously vulnerable at fullback.

Hardaker in on the wing to offer protection to Tomkins under the bomb, but to also allow him to push forward if necessary, Roby and Burrow offering a lot of speed around the ruck, Sinfield dictating play, Chase and Tomkins offering creativity on the edges. Big, strong, quality pack would allow us, for a time at least to have a huge amount of creativity on the field at once, with Burrow/Roby at dummy half, Sinfield and Burrow/Roby in the centre of the park, Chase and Tomkins on the fringes, Hardaker, Watkins, Reed and Hall on the outside.
