I know, I was being ironic. It seemed a large proportion based their whole opinion of Gale on one jig he did after scoring a try rather than the his performances through the season.

| Handley will score some tries this year if your left edge stays the same.
Everyone knows about gale and hurrell, but as a giants fan the lines that Mellor runs really causes problems, Austin got caught out by Mellor 2/3 times last night which led to tries.
You're in for a good year this year

| I know I’m Ava’s biggest fan and all that but he was awesome again. Goes under the radar a bit but he is real quality.
Makes such a difference having real half backs both sides, and able to double up (three with Myler), very hard to defend at times and kicking game out of sight compared with what it was.
What is really pleasing is the youth of the side. We have a few more good uns to come through too.

| Quote ="Superted"What a great performance all round - special call outs to Myler, Dwyer, Newman and Prior.
I was really impressed with the team spirit - there seemed to be a real buzz between the lads, something that I’ve not noticed in a few years.
Whilst I thought we were fantastic, and we were the ones who made Wire look average, I do temper the excitement with the fact I think the pitch and conditions certainly suited us - the sandpit certainly doesn’t encourage fast, free flowing, quick ptb rugby - the stuff Clarke thrives on. We played the conditions great; the kicking to touch, stop/start nature of the game, combined with the sandpit taking the speed out of the bigger players legs all stopped Wire being able to play their best style. Here’s to a long, wet summer....'"
I think most pundits thought the conditions would suit wire better.
I don't think they rated Leeds defence before kick off and they thought our pack wouldn't be able to match theirs set for set.
It's easy to get carried away after a win like that but boy does the future look bright now.
It seems like we still have space in the cap to bring in another player and we have a fair few kids on the verge of making the first team.
I think Cameron Smith deserves a huge amount of credit. Many on here were writing him off before the season but for me he's probably our most consistent performer.
Leeds played a great down the middle game last night but I also think they have enough in their armoury to play an expansive game when the conditions improve.
Sad news about Ward but he'll recover and come back stronger.
For me we still need another prop in the squad whether that be a signing or the emergence of Holroyd or Mustaphi.
Even though it was a 36-0 scoreline I don't actually think there was too much between the teams.
I think the first half was set for set but we had slightly better ball control. We then got a bit of a lucky try early in the second half which meant Warrington had to chase the game and their continued errors gifted us an easy win. I think if the first score of the second half would have come from wire they could have steadied the ship a bit better. I still think Leeds would have won just because I think from minute 1 until minute 80 Leeds were the most focused.

Good point, really enjoyable game to watch as a rhinos fan. As above I thought the team were very good and a number of individuals were also very good.
On Mellor I was super impressed. In com they mentioned he missed a lot of tackles last week. However, this week he looked right on it, quick, powerful and a menace all game. It makes the people who said he was rubbish, average or shouldn’t be playing look silly. This is a in essence a new, growing and developing team. Players like Mellor have come in, trying to settle, understand and improve. We as fans need to support that, not just when we win but also when we don’t. We aren’t the finished article, we aren’t going to play well every week but if the culture has and is improving as it appears then over time we will get back where we want to be.

I think our defence especially down the middle made them look bad, to go with 3 props to start with Prior at loose was a very shrewd move, also the desire to tackle second phase play really threw Wire off their game plan.
It’s easy to get carried away after such a good performance, I still think we’ll have quite a few Hull and Salford first half performances throughout this season, but the difference is I don’t think we’ll throw in the towel this year and that’s down to team spirit, look at when Myler made that mistake early on you could see that his team mates wanted to make sure we defended that next set. I also like what Hurrell (so glad weve got a character like him in the squad) about headingley being their Homeland and they have to protect it, that os a fantastic attitude to have.
We will pick up some injuries like any squad, but we do have some decent players waiting in the wings and I think we are putting decent structures in place that they can come in and fit in with how we want to play, Im hoping to see Mclellend get a few games to see how he goes alongside lui or gale

There's a number of potential reasons.
He was a good player playing for another team.
He is a bit of a cocky one which is great when he is in your team but annoying when he is in someone else's.
The main one for me when he was rumoured to be signing was his recent injuries.
The first two go away now he plays for Leeds and he is answering the third on the pitch.
Is this fickle? Sure.
Very glad we have him now though.

| Really happy with that, the commitment and defence are night and day better than over the last couple of years. With some big players missing, plenty of cap left and some top quality youth both in the side and coming through...Things are looking very good going forward.

Have to say, Price is clearly under pressure but I don’t like the overly aggressive style of Brooks (or Carney) in questioning on Sky. You can ask good questions without being so blunt. I’m not sure if Clarke hasn’t run his course too actually. Off topic.
Wire have too much talent in the team to get into real trouble this year (bar injuries). Thought Chris Hill was immense last night in a beaten side.
The sides haven’t really settled down yet.

| Hopefully the Myler critics from last season will realise any poor performances was down to the rest of the team performing badly and he not being used as he should have been.
Even the best players need quality around them,I have watched Widdop in the NRL and he has looked a world beater at times, last night on that performance he would not be in our reserves.Same applies to Dwyer as to Myler who was excellent last night and has performed much better this season so far.

| Very good performance tonight with a mixture of us stopping Wire playing and Wire seemingly no longer playing for the coach.
Their team on paper should have beaten us last night but feel Agar out coached Price last night.
Newman Hurrell and Gale best for the backs along with Myler.
All the forwards played very well especially Dwyer.
Leeming is going to have to take aback seat unless we have an injury.
For me Luke Briscoe is a better winger than Tom and should keep his place.
Walker is now getting on a par with Golding
Listening to Agar after the game was he eluding to playing L. Sutcliffe at FB next week?

Myler is playing better because he has got Gale to organise the side, something that he has shown he is incapable of doing. That said he has done a great job in his new role of interchange hooker and then fullback last night. He is in the 17 on merit.

How that coach can keep his job after that i will never know , credit to Leeds for a great defensive perfomance and at last we have dummy runners and not just dummies . Looks like Gales influence on the training field is paying off similar to when Sinny and Peacock were doing the coaching
Great performances across the park but especially from Cuthbo , Newman and Gayle .

| Some really good performances last night and pleasing to see the progress we’ve made.
Thought Newman, Myler, Gale, Ava, Prior were all great.
Ava and Prior will turn out to be really good signings in my opinion. Given us lots of grunt and tough hard work in the pack. They’re enabling the others to look as good as they have done the last few games.
While Warrington weren’t good there’s only so many times we can deflect praise by saying the opposition were poor. At some point we have to admit that at least some of that is due to how we played causing them to be poor.
The pleasing thing for me is how quick the squad is looking. Newman, Mellor, Gale have all added some pace to the team. But also how controlled we were. There were very few, if any, daft plays.
I’m not daft enough to think we’re grand final material yet but if we can finish 5th or 6th this year that’ll be good progress and then next year think about a playoff shot.

| Some great comments so here's a few different observations:
The pitch looked great when I took a look last week so my guess is that it was sanded just as a precaution against the heavy rain and sleet earlier in the day.
How the RFL/Super League could sign-off the teams' kit choices midweek is beyond me. There was always going to be a clash with the colours not being distinct enough for TV purposes.
We now have key person risk with Gale, his organisation is all-important and has helped Dwyer with his decision making enormously.
Laughable how many questioned the line-up pre-match on social media ("Why has Cameron Smith been dropped?" etc etc). It was purely a tactical switch, stop Warrington down the middle and you're well on the way to winning the match. Credit to Agar with the starting line-up, tactics and use of subs.
It's less noticeable when we win but I still think we have a problem with Hicks. It felt like he was trying to give them a leg-up at times and in particular the lack of action when Lineham took out Dwyer off the ball was poor. Surely that will be reviewed by the disciplinary committee.
Best performance since 2017, onwards and upwards, can't wait for next week (even if Thursday night rugby sucks).

Agree with all that.
On Hicks I think it makes our performance all the better that it certainly felt like we were fighting against the ref too. Some of his decisions re holding down were baffling. As was the decision to send the Dwyer try up to the VR as No Try.
I think he actually got the Murdoch-Masila sinbinning correct, I don’t think it deserved a red. However other players have been sent off for less including Chris Hill v Wigan.
Yeah there appears to be a daft issue with kits for some reason. We’ve never had these issues before so why are they starting now? Surely all this is sorted at the start of the season when fixtures are announced and clubs kits are signed off? You can use this one away at so and so and this one here? Seems like a simple issue that just needs a bit of organisation.
I thought Agar’s use of subs in the first half was spot on. He brought them on just when we needed them when Wire were starting to gain a foothold in the game.
