You certainly seem pretty sure that these pub rumours are true!
Unless of course you are in the know and they aren't in fact pub rumours?
Or you could have heard it from John Kear himself ?
Or you are in fact John Kear?

Must be a strong rumour then as it's gone from a 1 year contract to 4 months in a few hours.

| No excuses , back on training ground , virtually full strength team , confidence should be good after 6 wins in 7 games . Last night was bloody awful against a very ordinary team . No direction , no moves , a lack of urgency . Take the hooker out and we would have lost . Mac has lost the plot and that's if he ever had it . We need Powell as coach an organising half back and to keep Segs if we are to get back in the trophy hunt .

| we need two half backs, a second rower and a prop. too many players, great servants to the club, are now way past there best. a 2002 type cull is sadly needed. things don't change them next year will be even worse

| I think most of HKR's games, especially in the middle eights, are going to be like that, they are a scrappy team that don't go down without a fight. Add in a lopsided penalty count and some suffering around when Burrow goes off (injured) and more often than not you'll get a game like that.
I thought this thread was going to be about Mcguire, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say thats the worst game I've ever seen him have in a Leeds shirt.

For me: McGuire, JJB, Delanney, Burrow, Ablett, Cuthbertson and Galloway need to go as does the coach and the conditioner

Re-Abbbo i think that hip problem is getting jabbed up he has virtually no lateral movement summats not right.
Agree re-Cuthbo but i also think Galloway has vastly improved hope if we get T-Rex he regains his destructive best.

| This thread is about our beloved captain.
McGuire needs to call it a day, but he won't he needs the cash to support his horses. Therefore he needs stripping of his captaincy responsibilities, maybe they are affecting his performances. He demonstrates no organisational qualities and his kicking is dire.
Thanks for the memories Danny, I'll never forget the joy of your 2004 try in the GF but if you stay on into 2017 it'll prove a year too far.

McGuire and Cuthbo were arguably our 2 best players last year, McGuire had more direct contributions to tries than any other player in the league. I would definitely be giving these two another year, especially McGuire as he still looks injured to me.
Galloway has looked okay after a poor start and I would keep him on.
JJB and Burrow have by no means been our worst players, I would keep them on (depending on how much they get paid), they mights not start for us but will provide valuable experience in the squad and will step up in big games if required.
Delaney and Ablett on the other hand should probably be moved on.
It is harsh to say but Delaney is just too injury prone and can't string 2 games together, we should pay him out the rest of his contract for his services and imo it should come out of Macs pay for playing him far too often when he wasn't fully fit.
Ablett has been shocking this year and was one of the few players in our squad who didn't play well last year. If he is playing through injury or something then that might explain it, but I assume not as we have second rowers on the bench. The dropped ball for HKR first try was an error you would scoff at a part time player making, never mind a former international.
I actually think you have hit the nail on the head re the conditioner, far too often we have looked sluggish and lost the fight down the middle, at the start of the year we blamed it on having Burrow at hooker, but we managed fine in 2013/14

People on this board said that in 2014, but last year he had more direct contributions to tries (tries and assists) than any other player in the league. He got an injury in round 1 and hast recovered, he usually looks sluggish after injury but I have faith that if we bring in an organising half with a decent kicking game he will get back to creating plenty points for us.
You may be right about the captaincy distracting him though. Who would you suggest we give it to?
I would have said Ward but he hasn't played at all this year and next year he should just focus on getting back to his best form.

I agree Ward would be the natural leader but he now needs to re-establish himself as a member of the starting 13.
JJB and Ablett both have leadership qualities but are also nearing the end of their careers.
Is Hall vocal enough to be a captain, he has loads of experience.
As an outside shot, why not Ferris, how would he handle the leadership role. It might be the making of him!!

| Galloway has been our best prop this year. Don't know why we'd be getting rid of him without also getting rid of Singleton, Garbutt and Cuthbertson.
Some more daft over reactions on this thread.
Ablett, McGuire and Cuthbertson were superb last year. As was the coach and the conditioner.
The only player I'd get rid of is Achurch as he's been consistently indifferent and sign a decent prop to complement the current 4.

Garbutt has been by far the best prop by a considerable margin - I am suggesting Cuthbertson should also go, perhaps you are struggling with your comprehension today.
This team needs a fresh start/clean slate to move it on from the Sinfield/Peacock era. New coaching and conditioning ideas - time for a major shake up.
Just because players were great two years ago doesn't mean they are can regain that standard. This year's form is surely a much better indicator as to where they are at than what happened when they were part of a team/culture that possibly made them look better than they actually are?

Sorry, which of McGuire, JJB, Delaney, Burrow or Ablett have been made to look better than they actually are over the last decade?

I certainly wouldn't be getting rid of Galloway. But Garbutt has been by far and away our best player of the year, not just prop, so not sure how you have come up with that first sentence.
Ablest hasn't been superb since 2014. He was poor last year, but this year he really is at a low.
Cuthbertson, surely must be a fitness issue. You don't go that far back just like that. He did enough last year to warrant time.
