Firstly, you are talking about Player, not Player=#FF0000s.

Secondly you are talking about something 12 months ago, when said player still had 12 months on his contract, and then 12 months later when said player was to become out of contract.

It is quite likley that any coach acts differently from one year to another with different circumstances.

I don't think our coach will have taken such drastic measures without good reason. Either way, as long as any employee is receiving their contracted payments, I don't see any legal issues against the employer. It's called garden leave where I work.

The Paul Sterling fallout ended in court as it was proven to have been racially aggravated. Not because Dean Lance didn't want to consider him / select him / think about selecting him / consider thinking about selecting him.

It was exactly because Lance told Sterling he wouldn't be considered for selection that the whole problem arose.

The point I was making, a point easily grasped by everyone other than you, is that telling a player they won't be considered is bad management and causes the club issues. There's simply no need to do it.

I think telling a player he won't be considered is fine, but only when the player has been a liability all season, then in his final chance plays even more abysmally and gets banned for 2 matches. A performance which arguably led to us losing the game. Why persist with a player who clearly can't be d any more? He's going anyway & we've found a far better fullback. No sympathy for Webb, as I stated before (a point that you failed to grasp) look at Ali. He was told he wouldn't be required any more, took it on the chin and got on with life. A true team player.

PS which part of the Sterling events have I fudged? Was it :

a) the court case being for racial issues?
or
b) the court case being nothing to do with the fact he'd been told he was surplus to requirements (since this on its own would never get to court?)

The finding in the Sterling case was - IIRC - that he had not been discriminated against on grounds of race, but that Leeds failed to investigate his complaint properly in the first instance.

We still on with this? If i could picture a world where Webb was probably very realistic and apologetic about his showing at Wakefield then i could believe he's been hard done to. But this is Webb, the man who is always hard done by and never in the wrong, his reaction to a probable bollocking and dropping will of sucked and rightly got told that with that attitude he won't be playing again.
Ali last year and Hauraki in one or two of the recent games have played when the coach knew they heading out of the door so i don't buy it's because Webb won't be here in 2013. Bailey too was in the bad books it seems after Wembley but he's got himself back into the team and played well against Wakefield.
Some will feel i'm being harsh to a guy who has played so well for us in his time here but lets not pretend that Webb's ever had the best attitude.
