| Quote ="Gotcha"Neither Bailey or Burgess could have been fit. Both were really poor. There was no high work rate from Bailey at all. Don't try and curry flavour with posters. Obviously I don't have the stats to hand, but hazarding a guess it will end up something like 11 carries, 45 metres, 13 tackles, and 1 miss tackle. Lets see how close I am. Burgess might look even worse due to 2 errors and 1 miss tackle.
I will be amazed if Kirkes stats are not far superior to either player above. He will have made much more meterage, his play the balls were quick, and he got around for the tackles.
But I bet you O'Meley's stats absolutely dwarf all the other props. He kept coming and coming, and his passes were sublime.'"
I wouldn't have said Bailey was 'really poor'. He was solid in defence and took the ball up well. His stats will be better than Kirke's in my opinion. I agree with you about Burgess though. Silly errors and not overly effective ball in hand.

It's fair to say from those comments, that the coach and players realize the defensive effort was not good enough full stop, rather than just the last 10 minutes of each half.
Good on them, hopefully they will do something about it. Especially the right hand side, which I mentioned above, where particular comment was made from Bluey.

I didn't dispute the right hand side comments, again i still think the poor defence was in the last quarter of each half.

Well like you said, we will just have to dissagree.
I came away from that game though, despite seeing exactly what I pay to watch, a fantastic quality rugby performance with ball in hand, and yet went home dissapointed because of the defensive effort.
And to be honest, unlike yourself, even if Hull had never had the ball for that last 10 and not scored the extra points, I still would have been dissapointed with the defensive effort.

| Not really match related but there was a hull fan outside the Oak me and the old man tried to help. We thought he was ill or something (turned out he was complete trollied) so put him in the recovery position and tried to help him out. Stopped bothering after been called a c**t for the 5th time so told the bar staff and left him be (not the best I suppose but he seemed coherent and awake) later to find his mates had dumped him there while they went for a pint.

| I thought that we struggled to contain Manu all afternoon & thought that Big Sam Moa gave them good go forward when he came on.
Mind you they struggled to cope with Delaney when we attacked down our right too.
Strange that since I thought we'd target Hall (Craig - not Ryan) maybe we're saving that till next week.
Danny McGuire made 2 fantastic catches from Tansey's kick offs (kicks off?) in the 2nd half. One diving forward and one over his head followed by a somersault, outstanding I thought.
Interesting use of quck short passes in the middle of the ruck & despite Sinfield's 2 penalties for holding down, we suffered defensively when he departed.
It was good to be warm for a change too.

Considering that you are both allegedly some sort of Walter Mitty characters, that is probaly not surprising.
What is really shocking is that you both thought Bailey had a bad game. As the man said - Christ, you know it aint easy.

Perhaps has it dawned on you that erm? About 99% of attack goes down the left in rugby?

And the fact that were so poor down our defensive right side is all the more inexcusable given your less than accurate statistic.

| This is a scenario not unlike the early parts of last season. Some sublime attacking play when we click and some ordinary defence - especially on the goaline. There were a few shoot outs last year. Things tightened up later in the season as the focus grew towards the business end, the difference this year is that we can't afford to be slack and drop too many more points. We have to tighten up now, not in July. I'm sure Bluey is aware of this, but it's still a warning to the rest of SL that we can go out and stick nearly 50 on Hull.

| I think that happened after trying to tackle Smith early on in the game.
FWIW I came away dissapointed with our defence.
Hull I feel may take some positives out of this game considering they will have 3 or 4 better players to draft into their team.
We will go with what we had on Sunday.
Was it 8 tries to 6 in the end to us?
I still think we have the CC as our main target this year.
Lets face it we wont win the hubcap or finish in the top 2.
So a top 5 finish and the CC are realistically all we can hope for.
Would we class that as a good season?

Winning 1 trophy out of the main 2 available would be classed as a good season definately imo.
We could/should have at least 1 player back this week Bluey was saying after the match so i guess it could be Peacock who would make a big difference to us also.

| I don't see why Leeds shouldn't be focusing on winning both?? Like they say they have done every season.
The 5 out of 6 points we have recently picked up gets us back in the race. And a top 2/3 finish is still not out of the question.
There's plenty of games for wins and form to be won and lost for every team!
Let's back the boys and have faith in a team that has been faultless in coming away with the ultimate prize for the last 3 seasons. They know where they need to be in terms of performance and execution and that is still in reach IMO.

So you are suggesting we can not win the GF due to a finishing position not known yet?

| Hull were missing Richard Horne, Sean Long, Craig Fitzgibbon, Danny Tickle, Mark Calderwood and they also lost Shaun Berrigan early in the game.
Leeds were missing Scott Donald (not an automatic selection), Jamie Peacock and Greg Eastwood by comparison.
I expect it'll be a different Hull side Leeds will be facing next week in the one that counts.
