| Lui is mates with Segayaro from their days at the Cowboys.
Soward from Penrith.
Makes sense.
Have Soward AND Lui with Segayaro and it would work VERY well IMHO.

| Nyle Flynn and Joe Sanderson have joined Hunslet this week. Signs that we won't have a reserve side still.

| It's all a bit bemusing why we continue to spur the chance of developing promising youngsters.
Surely running a reserve team would help their development and hopefully we unearth another Sinfield.
It wont be long before these promising youngsters start choosing other SL clubs to progress.

Thats a very good point, why would a player come to Leeds if we are making judgement calls at 19 for most players to either get in the 1st team squad or leave. Wigan and Saints academy are miles ahead of ours already and we are gonna keep falling behind. We are already struggling to fit our NFT players in the squad.
On a less selfish note, I don't think its good for the game if we are loosing so many potential players. Many will go to other clubs, but these are often part time and the player will rarely develop properly in that environment.

| We really have no pathway to offer young players other than the top one or two per year. If by some miracle we had another batch come through like the early 2000s (Bailey, Ward, McGuire, Burrow, Mathers, Calderwood, Diskin basically all at the same time) how would we handle it?

| Feels like the club could be in pre-sale limbo - costs cut to a minimum. The exception would be the ss re-furb. Bet it's a cheapy but it'll mask any attendance drop off.

| I'm really not sure what's happening with RL in this country - all long term development plans are out of the window and most teams are just looking for short term gains. Player development is just another example of this - if they're not ready by 19, bin em off. Forget the fact that these kids are still not fully physically developed (do they really expect all 19 year old props to be ready to go week in/week out against seasoned pro's) and that they've never played against full grown blokes (let alone blokes who've also been in a full-time professional environment for years).
Look at the NRL currently - most players aren't making their debuts until their early 20's, and even then, it's taking a couple of seasons to hit their straps (obviously there are a few superstars who are ready at 18/19, but these are the exceptions).
I just don't understand the long term plan or benefit to the game. I'm fast losing patience and interest in the game over here.

I agree. Though I still wouldn't trust most clubs to spend their money wisely even if they had plenty.
But yeah in general the sport, the clubs don't bring in enough money.

The NFL don't even consider players until they hit 23-25 not sure why we wan't to throw players away at 18-19

No new signings, no pre season training camp, no reserve team, it defiantly looks like we're squeezing our costs down in 2017 with the exception of the new south stand.

Best support. Teenagers leaving. £75 shirts. Ageing/plodding players that need replacing. So why are we seemingly skint?

| Not a chance of the Southstand happening in 2017 - it is still getting used for the Xmas game I believe.
If it was going to be ready for the 2018 season it should have been demolished by now surely?

| I like how people are suddenly making everything fit to the narrative that we're skint after those cryptic unsubstantiated rumors from the likes of tadrhino etc.
In terms of signings we can only spend up to the cap. It's not like teams are throwing transfer fees round and we're furiously selling off all our players. We could be up to the full cap, if we're not are there any players available? Certainly in the past we've not spent up to the cap but it was never because we were skint, it was always because GH was a tight sod. Why is that now different?
In terms of pre-season, I'm not sure what the pro and cons of a training camp abroad are, better weather allowing for certain types of training? I don't know. But in Mcdermotts season summary he said we were in for a long tough winter, so maybe they decided it was better to batten down the hatches at HQ and get stuck in to uninterrupted training? We didn't go on a camp abroad prior to 2006 either, skint then as well?
Let's not turn everything the club do now into a ''it's because we're skint'' narrative just because of nothing posts with no substance.

| I believe that Maguire & subsequently Wane at Wigan have eschewed foreign jaunts in favour of boot camps in the wilds of the UK.
It doesn't seem to have done them any harm in terms of fitness, team building & conditioning.

| ATEOTD its probably just the kick up the arris for them that many on here were calling for.
In reality, a change is as good as a rest and its not as if we've never had a camp out in this country before either.

Announcing the Boxing Day game yesterday, GH was still building it up as the last game for the South Stand so must still think they'll be starting work between then and the start of the season.
