How long Webb has on his deal to run is irrellevant when discussing if Bjb would be better recalled for a couple of games on the wing imo because there's too many ifs and buts.
What we do know is that Bjb is NOT part of the squad he's on loan to Quinns,now the coach and staff have deemed not to recall him so why not back the players who are been called up and leave Bjb to continue his development as a 1st choice FB in a SL team?

My rather smaller picture is expecting Leeds' to manage their outside back resources in a way that doesn't see them fall too far out of contention before the season gets into full swing.

This League campaign so far represents Leeds' worst start to a SL season since Dean Lance was in charge in 2000. Leeds' wins have come against the teams currently lying 11th, 12th and 14th, who will in all likelihood be this season's easy beats.

SL has been won by the team finishing top on 7 occassions, 2nd on 4 occassions and 3rd once. No team has ever reached a Grand Final from lower than a 3rd place finish in the 12 year history.

True, although in most of those years there's only been two or three teams with a realistic chance of taking the trophy. I think this stat is one that's due to change and this could be the year. I'd say there are maybe five teams this time with a realistic chance. That said, the more points gained the better.

As long as the finals series is operated with home ground advantage it's going to continue to be a tall order for clubs outside of the top two positions to reach the final and IMO that's how it should be.

I'm glad you have full confidence in the coaching staff. They haven't earned such confidence so far this season. My observation is that we have made a terrible start to the season and have looked woefully under prepared. This is dissappointing after the similar poor prep last season. You say we don't know the time-frame for Halls absence (nor do we for any of the others!) and this is precisely why we need all our options available and training together now.

how do you prepare for the number of injuries, the positions of the injured players, and what time of the game they are injured?
at least 3 times we have had very early injuries which have meant a big reshuffle. too early to panic and we didn't do to badly after a poor start last season. as long as we get a top 4 finish we will go close

I agree our form isn't as good as it could be but we were beaten by the better team on the day when we have lost whilst still creating chances to win every match we have lost.
The preperation can't account for the injuries we've collected it's just the RL goes sometimes and like i said i'm prepared to back a coach who is the only coach to win back to back GF's and win the WCC and SL in the same season.
That's how he's earned my confidence and if the call is to trust some youngsters whilst Bjb is benefiting better elsewhere i'll go along with that especially as the players selected haven't had a chance to play yet.

Ok I accept your point of view. My point about being ill-prepared is not to do with injuries (as you cannot prepare for them) but it is to do with starting the season with a lack of sharpness in our handling as though they spent the pre-season in the gym and were handling a rugby ball for the first time. We also have had no game plan and have played too much one up rugby.

I am not one of those calling for the coaches head just because we have lost a few games. I do like Bluey and believe him to be a likeable honest sort of a bloke. I agree his record is good, although I do believe he inherited the top squad in SL who were at the top of their game who would most likely have won the first WCC without a coach.

So having said all of that, I still believe we should have recalled BJB as cover and I am not so sure now that leaving him in a team that is on the floor will be all that good for him.

I am not saying we could have prepared for injuries and don't think we should ever panic. My point is that IMO we should have recalled BJB as cover as soon as we knew we had so many injuires. Another point is that it may no longer be good for BJB's confidence to be playing in a losing team every week

His contribution was underwhelming.
He needs to put his shoulder into the tackle, I lost count of the number he missed through just throwing his arm out.
I know it was only his 1st SL game, but having heard so many rave reports on him I was really looking forward to seeing him.
He's got a long way to go.

Many missed tackles, ball retention poor, and looks very small for this league. Hopefully been full time now he will get the right conditioning to improve. But I can't see him been up to Super League this year, on that showing.

To be fair to the kid he will get better imo.
He looked lost last night but to put perspective on it he was part of a decimated under performing team and he'll get better imo.

Perfect summary. I'd like to see him get another chance at some point because I'd hoped he would be better than that but he looked very much out of his depth.

I agree just shows you how misleading pre season games can be where against Wakefield he looked very good.

I thought he was the best ref we had seen so far this year and put in a good performance. I did think he got the Danny HHT and whole ensuing incident slightly wrong, but we have to look for better guidance from linesmen for this type of incident.

The only thing I was puzzled about (not really critical of him as such, because he did see and ping Hull KR for them) was the three second go/professional fouls. I expected a warning after the second, even though they were spread throughout the game, and it didn't come. When he pinged them for the third one I thought the Ganson of last year might have put him in the bin, no messing, no warning but at least I did expect a warning then, which still did not come! All were miles from the try line and he saw and pinged them for each one, so it is difficult to say he was wrong but did feel a little like he was a little kind on these repeat incidents. Maybe he felt that as both sides were trying to play an open (although not succeeding) and penalty free game that it would have been against the run of play or that maybe that they were not quite as 'professional' in intent as I possibly thought with my Rhinos tinted glasses on?
