| Quote ="DHM"What's the point of a video ref. Clearly knocked on then didn't ground the ball anyway - no matter how many times it was reviewed - yet the on field decision of an unsighted ref carried more weight. I'm sick of this on field decision rubbish. It's a try or it's not a try. If the on field official has to have it reviewed then he clearly is guessing to begin with.
It's also worth noting that the two points that drew them level came after Walker had the ball punched out of his arms and should have been a Leeds penalty. But of course if Ferres hadn't given away yet another dumb penalty that wouldn't have mattered.'"
You will have also have seen the third Leeds try should never have been given and it was a clear knock on by Hall that the ref gave a strip for. The penalty near your line against PP was a joke. Swings and roundabouts open both eyes but for the post you got a point just!

Wasnt the hall ‘strip’ in the second half? And he gave it for interferance not a strip, unless im thinking about a different one.
Why should the 3rd leeds try never have been given?

What I saw for Leeds third try was Moon passing the ball and then carrying on his running line - what's he supposed to do? Disappear? He made no attempt to obstruct anyone and he's perfectly entitles to carry on running his line anyway as he was carrying the ball - happens all the time in open play. And anyway that's a judgment call, a player clearly not grounding the ball after clearly knocking it on is a matter of fact.
What's the Hall penalty got to do with anything? If you are going to get nit picky about every decision then Leeds should have had a penalty when Walker clearly had the ball deliberately punched out of his arms. But no, it was a scrum and a couple of plays later you got the penalty that leveled the match.

Nope. Handley ran behind moon who prevented lyne from making the tackle. You shouldn’t even been in the position in any event cos ferres trapped lynes arm in the tackle and Hicks gave you a penalty

The Walker one hicks said it got knocked out in the act of making the tackle. The ball steal on hall was a clear knock on and enabled you to get out to an 8 point lead.
As for obstruction, there was enough in it for the touch judge to suggest it be sent to the VR. Hicks could have ruled a try on the field if he thought it was but sent it up to make sure given his touch judge advice.

As stated I don’t think the hall one was a ball steal he gave it for interference at the ruck.

| Once again, we fail to deal with a team in the last fifteen minutes. Wakey managed to set up three chances to win the game. We didn't do so once. Unless we are well clear in the last quarter, I now believe every game will be lost.

Exactly. How can we be 2 scores up with 10 left and be unable to control it from there? Wake inevitably score (controversial) then we concede to level it yet wakey still manage 3 Drop.goal attempts to our none. Now that is poor management.

In fairness that attitude was there in certain games in the run preceding McDermott's sacking. It's the standard we play to that's the greater problem. IMO of course.

| Not sure about a new left centre but we certainly need a right centre until Watkins is fit.
Moon was gash once again apart from a couple of decent kicks to touch.
Walker whilst still young and has improvement in him was never MOM he made more mistakes than positives and is a long way off but will get better.
The forwards started ok but dropped off in the second half Dwyer for me had a good game and I thought Ferres despite giving away his usual dumb penalty played well.
No idea how Walters gets in ahead of Smith either.
Average last night but an improvement on last week.
Some poor reffing for both sides but a draw a fair result.

Walker made one mistake, other than that he was good, i get a bit of a sinking feeling that walker is becoming the latest scapegoat, he’s 18 ffs

By my reckoning, we have failed to win 7 games this year (5 defeats and 2 draws) that we have led at some time during the second half, of which 5 were at Headingley.

| Our game management late on, in the close games, this season has been very poor. Myler has to take some responsibility for this imo. Hindsight is easy but would we have turned some of those into wins with McGuire still at halfback ?

If McGuire was still our halfback we would be looking to the top 4 not the bottom 4.

Possibly but I think it’s more than just game management. I think it’s a confidence issue in that we look nervous when it comes to the closing stages of a tight game, like we don’t think we can hold out. And I think we get sloppy/lazy/tired/overrun however you want to describe it down the middle. Aside from what we do with the ball in these circumstances, in defence teams make far too many yards down the middle against us. We aren’t getting up to them and we aren’t slowing the play the ball by getting bodies into the tackle.
Some people are blaming the conditioning team etc and that we’re unfit, I doubt that personally as the conditioning has prettt much delivered every season. I think it’s more a consequence of us having to expend too much energy in other parts of the game so we’re knackered.

I agree that it comes down to more than just game management, but I do think McGuire would have got us over the line on a few occasions this season.
Regarding the fitness issues, I agreed with McDermotts views about us struggling to contain teams week after week without our 1st choice props and that was taking its toll. We are now in a rut and confidence is a big problem. There were encouraging signs on Friday night though. Line speed was much improved which in turned helped contain their pack better than has been the case recently.
