ATEOTD yes, he is one of the greats of the game but he hasn't reproduced that for Leeds, in fact our season changed when we stopped the folly of attempting to play two hookers. Shame we've reerted to it again this year.

That's not strictly true. IIRC Buderus was playing very well for Leeds before getting injured against Wigan, and the team as a whole were on form. The system wasn't working at the time only insofar as the team lost intensity when Diskin came on. Obviously Diskin is a perfectly adequate hooker (and less injury prone to boot) who plays better when he's on the pitch for longer spells, but a player of Buderus's ability and experience should not be overlooked.

My own opinion of Buderus isn't much.

BUT to me he's like a Prague prostitute - will do the job - but you can get an exqually good job elsewhere without the premium rate.

The player holding that hooking role at the time was always going to share in a winning team. That could quite easily have been Buderus had he not got injured.
