To be fair Alan Tait could get out of the way quicker than Tui ever could. A great runner but defensivelly a joke. He was like a turnstyle letting people thru. Fans loved him too.

| Tait was a bit of a let-down to me. When we signed him I thought we'd see lots of match-winning games but he generally only stood out when the team played well. Neither Cup Final against Wigan were amongst his better efforts.

That catch off his toes to put Ellery over in the 94’ semi was worth his transfer fee alone. At lease it felt it at the time

That’s the one mate. How fitting was it that at that precise moment, they were interviewing Andy Dannatt on the BBC

| Remember the Dannatt interview well, couldn’t have happened to a nicer fella after what he did.
We’ve been blessed by those wearing the 13 shirt in the years I’ve followed Leeds, some incredible players.

| The club have put out some training footage/social media posts in the last few days. Fusitu'a doesn't seem to be featured in any of them. Do we know whether he has come across injured?

Saw some video of him training a couple of weeks back. Like you I also noticed his absence from the latest training footage, but I did see Agar quoted as saying only Sutty and Walker were not fit to play.

Could be that he was just missed out by chance.
I just thought the club would want to be showing him off a bit more than they have.

Looking at the pre season fixtures i would imagine the side selected to play Hull will roughly be the 17 that faces Warrington.

| Holroyd out for 3 months. We were already short of a prop. So f(kn annoyed we signed an overseas winger. Go get Luke Thompson now.

| Prop is important but it is one position, and we need a balanced team. We had overseas wingers when we broke our championship drought in 2004 (Bai) and again in 2007 when we had Donald. IIRC many thought we were light in the front row in 2007 as well, when Peacock famously transitioned to prop.
Having decent half-backs and strike out wide is necessary if we are going to stand a chance this season. Fingers crossed we ride the injuries this time around.

| I just don't find Holroyd to be reliable health wise. Agar must think we can make do with Donaldson and Thompson covering.

The loss of income caused by covid probably puts him out of range, but I'd ask the question, because he must be getting f(kd off with having to get vaccinated when he didn't want to, and club trying to shop him. He might just have had enough, want to come home, and be willing to take a pay cut on 1yr deal.

I think there's a lot of questions about his attitude that might put us off signing him even if there were the cap space.

There is always a balance between the quality of the player and the baggage they bring isn't there?
I think Thompson is a really good prop but we could get better value for money. I'd like us to find a Chris Satae-type player, who is just massive and difficult down the centre field.
Personally I think the 6-again rule has been over-egged and rugby league will always be a game about power down the middle. You are always more likely to concede in D than in attack, so if your forwards are dominant you're more likely to be on the beneficial end of 6-agains - virtuous cycle. You go with a more "mobile" pack, get rolled and start conceding, and then your "fitter" side is knackered because you're defending most of the 6-agains. You create what you're trying to avoid by trying to avoid it.
It's a tough one whether Fusitu'a was the right call ahead of a prop. Be very interested to see how Kane Evans and Dylan Napa go this season.

Another prop is on just about everybody's shopping list, but worth remembering that we dominated a lot of sides down the middle last season and struggled to convert that into points. Fusitu'a, even if he is 85% of the 2018 version, is a far more athletic winger than either of the Briscoes. Get him fit and happy and he might win us a load of games.
