After Sinfield and others retired the criticism on here was we didn't go out and find a replacement. This occasion we have and he's done well at SL level, have experience at a big club and great age for a HB. Whilst yes concerns about consistency are valid I think people need to be a bit realistic and remember what they were complaining about in prior years about not going out to find replacements for retiring players (McGuire surely is going now)

Given that Leeds' halves are either geriatric (McGuire) or inexperienced (Sutcliffe and Lilley), I think signing a 27 year old with over 200 SL appearances is a good plan.
Myler has a good long and short kicking game, supports play well and has developed the ability to dictate the attack and take on the line in the last couple of years.
I like to know who people would consider to be a better (realistic) signing?

I think Myler will do well.

Myler looks to offer far more attacking threat based on those stats. And that's in a struggling Catalan team.. good signing in my opinion and an improvement on the 34 yr old Mags.

I'm not sure who else we could get, id be surprised if there is a better halfback who moves to an SL side this year.

Id also argue his speed and running game in the middle is what we have been missing and why we have had to move Moon there. I think he will go great guns off the back of our offloading game but there is still a question mark over who will be our 'general'

yep totally agree tackle bust and clean breaks way a head of mcguire in a losing team, missed tackles are a concern but that seems to be a sign of a losing side rather than him individually.

Serious questions here.
Is the way Myler plays any different to how Lilley plays?
And what was the point in us signing Aston when we had Lilley as back up?
Do our coaching team think that Lilley is not good enough?
FWIW I think Myler will do fine as long as he has an organising HB alongside him.

Are people complaining about him or the package of halfs? Good signing for me, the sort of signing we should have made for last year. I honestly think he can do for a team like Castleford just like what Gale is doing now. The problem for us, is the same as if it was Gale that came in, where's the organiser and leader for a thoroughly ineffective coaching set up? Myler himself is a good signing, just hope he gets the set up to display his talents, which I am unsure of without that proper set up.

Completely different. Lilley is more of your organiser type, Myler is an attacking runner.

Real lack of quality available this year so doubt you would sign better, most quality players signed up and due to cap and visas won't be much quality coming from the NRL.

Been better giving your younger lads a go. Myler is average and a big team like Leeds should do better.

I expect our 2018 half backs to be Myler and Moon, with Keinhorst and Sutcliffe battling for the 2nd centre spot, with Burrow and Lilley back up hooker/half back.

The stats show the number of kicks but not the quality of kicks. We really need someone who will improve our kicking game.

This could be the start of a much delayed overall of the team and coaching staff. many of the long service players should retire with grateful thanks from the club and fans At the same time the recruitment of promising young players should take place consideration should be given to Patten,Connor or Savelio all of which struggle to regulary play for their present clubs. I am concerned that the present coaching staff are able to cope with the transistion to a new and possibly to a new style of play.l

I'm happy with Myler's signing and I think he will prove to be a very astute signing,We just need to find/choose his HB partner

I would give Lilley a shot but i'm not too sure that the club will give him his chance of starting each week at 7

If we sign another HB then IMO Lilley's best option with us is to be on the bench as cover for HB and Hooker
