I'm fully behind McDermott on this one and feel giving Sutcliffe the 6 shirt now is the way to go, he is playing well, certainly better than Sinfield over the last year or so, and will only get better from now too imo which is exciting to think. I still feel Sinfield has a big part to play for us in the rest of the year, but that role should be as cover for Sutcliffe and Mcguire now or being used from the interchange or even at 13 or even 9 at times, infact he can offer us plenty of utility value.

Not really a lack of leadership IMO. We've just got a fair few young players in the side. I don't think any leader could marshal them all as they go through what is a bit of a sticky patch. For me, it's more important that they gain experience than we look to Sinfield as some sort of security blanket. When Sutcliffe bangs over a late winning drop goal in a game that matters more than last night's - and he will do - then that will be the time to reflect upon the relative importance of a point dropped at Hudds.

imo yes. He still has plenty to learn mind , and will have games from time to time where he is ineffective, but willcertainly benefit now from starting there week in week out.

At 20 he really is a great prospect

If Mac continues to Leave out Sinfield for any length of time would He go to dual reg or would he say look this is my last season I can't be here twiddling my thumbs I'm sure I could do a job for another SL club fo the next few months?

Sutcliffe & McGuire definitely our first choice halves now, but still think Sinfield should be in at 13. His defence is still good, he can still take smart options at dummy half and of course he's still a much better goalkicker than Sutcliffe.

Failing that, for those that say his form's not good - of course he's not what he was but in the 30 minutes vs Wire he was a hell of lot better than Burrow has been the past few weeks, so if we run a big pack then on current form he should still be the option at 14.

I agree with the last point Sinfield is definitely a better option than Burrow and you can't have them both on the bench. However he defence is not great these days - Warrington showed that.

For years before moving to stand off he was our best defender by miles in the middle, holding it together. I know he is older now, but even this season he makes as many tackles as Delaney, JJB, Ablett, and actually misses less.

To say he does not have the pace for stand off, is totally valid. To say he does not have the defence, I just can't see anything to back that up.

It is not the tackles he misses its the tackles he should make that he doesn't - where players run past him and he isn't quick enough to make an attempt. Relook at the Asotasi against Warrington try Ormsby just left him for dead. Sometimes I think you are blinded to his faults. I doubt that counted as a missed tackle as he didn't really lay a finger on him?

That try was because of Achurch and Ablett. I notice you don't say these same with Ablett, yet what you describe happens a lot with him. Rather than blind to faults, could it not be that you just look to any excuse? As I said the stats and what happens differs to what you say. Sure there may be instances, but those same instances occur with others that you choose to ignore.

I agree with you by the way defending out wide. I completely disagree when in the middle.

I think most if not all would agree Sinfield's days of first choice halfback and especially getting away with defending out wide are over. However playing and defending in the middle at LF or in my opinion at hooker is still a good option. ..

The way he has been unceremoniously dumped does make me wonder if there is an unspoken mutual agreement to use him sparingly this season. (It can't be good for Sinfield himself to be playing every week - especially in the forwards - to be then playing on straight into a season of RU.) Out of respect for the man and what he has achieved for the club i wouldn't have a problem with that.

You asked me to give an example of Sinfield's defensive liabilities - I gave you one you didn't ask me to comment on Ablett or Achurch.

Sinfield is the first person Ormsby approaches if he makes the tackle the play ends - Ormsby runs past him, I appreciate you didn't see or want to see that but it is the reality. I am with you on other player's faults Ablett has been terrible this year - although he was much better against the Giants - and I am not a big fan of Delanney, spends too much huffing and puffing in back play.

The point I have tried to make and you still haven't really responded - if Sinfield plays how do you stop him controlling the attack, by your own admission he is too slow to play this role? He has had 20 years of playing with his own ball he isn't going to give up that role easily. Can't see him playing a JJB, Stevie Ward, Ablett role in forwards can you?

Since the announcement of his departure, when he has played I haven't noticed him "hogging the ball". When he came on vs Saints he didn't do it. Would rather pick him and see how it pans out......if he then "hogs the ball" then fair enough it's a valid point. But not picking him because he'll POSSIBLY hog it is ridiculous.

If Sutcliffe is going to develop then wouldn't playing games alongside Sinfield help him? To see those little things, decisions, leadership wise out there. Quite a few of Sutcliffe's appearances in 2013 and 2014 came when Sinfield was injured so he hasn't actually played a significant amount of his games with Sinfield on the pitch.

In practice there isn't always much difference if you opt for a ball playing 13, as opposed to the wrecking ball 13. But yes, he's going to be a big lad and plenty of strength etc, but his footwork is that of a half back, and I'd like to see him in the 6 shirt next season.

Any truth in the rumour that Burrows and Mags will be Cas players next season ?

McGuire has another year on his contract I believe.

If McGuire can keep these recent performances going then i would like to see him stay on longer than another year.

We should find out very soon what is Happening with Burrow too i reckon.
