If I've read it correctly Leeds are going to build a stand with only 500 bricks, therefore it follows that each brick is going to be fooking huge, hence the not unreasonable £90 price tag.

Yes and its been well thought out 500 bricks for 90quid each I think that adds up to 4500 pounds not much really because its a Spratt to catch a Mackerel..In about 6 months or so there will be another statement "due to the very high demand for BRICKS there were many many disappointed people,so were are extending the offer we now offering another 5000 bricks, first come first served".Got to hand it to our Gary

| Nearly right. 500 X £90
5 X 9 = 45 then stick the three 0's back on
=£45,000
It might struggle to cover the architect's fee let alone finance the build.

yes I meant 45000 my keyboard is not working right, I still think is bait to entice people into a bigger money making scheme .If it was for the imminent southstand I would think about it ,but the North stand that could be 10 years away

| This is fookin’ typical of Leeds. £90 for a brick???
Why not offer a simple brick with your name engraved for a £10?
To have your name immortalised at Headingley for £10 would have a much higher take-up and I’m pretty sure they’d sell more than 4.5K.
Why is it that Leeds Rugby always has to be just that little bit too greedy?

| I bought one for a friend at Ibrox about 9 years ago. They have panels of normal bricks which are engraved and are part of a wall around the ground - that was the idea of suggesting it for the new South Stand.
Back then they were £35 for the brick plus a certificate of ownership.
I think somewhere along the way, they missed the point of the suggestion - if it was cheaper and in the right stand it would be more of an opportunity.

| Surely they will have a rethink. If they had a scheme for the SS like the one Fatboy suggested maybe I would buy one ,but not at the Northstand ..I bet the Northstand will still be there in 10 years

| I suppose if we get 500 fans willing to part with £90, they could collectively buy Odsal, and have a little bit left for development

| The club have been in touch and asked me to clarify what all this brick business is about. Here's their explanation;
Quote The bricks will be displayed on the external walls of the tunnel, so their messages will stand alongside the players as they run out onto the pitch, from next year and in years to come when the North Stand is redeveloped the bricks will remain a permanent fixture, integrating past with present and serving as a lasting reminder of their love, support and dedication to the club.'"

Bradford's idea is that the fans bring in a brick each so they can add a barbecue to the catering facilities. I think they need around 105, so will probably have to get visiting fans to contribute as well to make up the numbers.

That's fine but the brick will be laid with the message facing inwards so nobody can see it.

Or they could build the visiting changing rooms with these types of brick just so we can show our support and that!!!

| I'm with FatBoy. Had they made them £10/£15/£20 they would've likely sold into the thousands, even without a stadium tour and photo. Just £15 for a brick, they'd have easy sold 3,000 to make the same £45,000.
Or.... here's a radical idea.... they could've upped the Gold Member prices slightly, say £230/£240, but for that the brick was included. With that, they wouldn't need to include any other of the tat that Gold Members usually get, thus actually saving money and giving the fans something they actually want (and not a a key ring) thus boosting season ticket sales in a year that's drastically going to need all the help it can get.

| Why the North stand though?Ive read all the latest coming from the club, but I would have thought they could have come up with a brick scheme for the south stand,it is going to be built very soon

I think it's because they're trying to use the tunnel as a draw. And the tunnel is in the north stand.
The brick is for the tunnel. Which just happens to be in the north stand. The words "north stand" only got mentioned when they said that they'd keep the tunnel if and when the North Stand is ever developed. This was to reassure people that the brick will remain a permanent feature.
The way I see it is the tunnel (and therefore the bricks) are happening soon. They're not saying, "give us £90 and when we eventually get round to doing the north stand we'll add a brick", they're saying that the brick will go in the tunnel NOW. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's how I read it.

| I'm with the majority of the posters this does not seem a well thought out plan. It, IMO, will not appeal to most Southstanders as after the initial 'unveiling' when would the ever have access to this tunnel? For that matter when would the Northstanders? Not that fans would want to go and gaze at their name on a brick every week but perhaps Mr H could arrange an annual pilgrimage

| If I were a Leeds fan, I'd be happy to sacrifice 3 nights out in my year to fund something that could potentially be part of the Leeds stadium for decades. £90 is nothing for such a priveledge. I'd sooner have 1 of 500 bricks than 1 of 5000, that nobody would ever see.
